“Quiet but beautiful College”
Review of St Edmund Hall

St Edmund Hall

Reviewed June 12, 2011

We sought out St Teddy's ahead of other, more famous Oxford Colleges because of family connections to the place but we were glad we did.

It is quiet, nestled just off the High Street, with a beautiful green quad a old buildings to rival any scene from 'Inspector Morse'. We were quite alone, but for dons and the odd student - my camera the only one in sight!

Well worth a trip off the beaten track to see, this is a taste of the real University of Oxford.

St. Edmund Hall (Teddy Hall by the students) is an awesome small college of Oxford Univeristy. It was founded 1278 and joined Oxford University in the 1950s. It is famous for sports (Rugby, football and rowing) and often wins in college competitions. It has a church on its grounds that's crypt is from the 900's they say (who knows). The church is now a library and the graveyard is often where people will study in good weather. The college pub is small and lively. The dinning hall looks like it is from Harry Potter (they wear gowns 2 times a week). If you get the chance to visit or study here, do it!
