Found this restaurant as we looked for something close to our hotel.
With a nice sunshine we dined outside, and it was just lovely. The service is great, food tasted really good and the atmosphere of this place is just so relaxed.
Will sure be back to try more dishes.

Jacobs Inn had so much potential, it has a good location, the interior is very pleasant and there is a buzzy family atmosphere.

Unfortunately the Jacobs Inn fell into the classic Oxford hole of having terrible service. Our greeting by one lady in particular was awful, was terribly embarrassing. The drinks took a good 30 minutes to arrive and the food was similarly late.

In terms of the food itself the starters were average but the main roast beef was enjoyable. Ultimately the Jacobs Inn had so much potential but failed to deliver. When i came to look at other reviews here i was not surprised by the very mixed response.

We were a group of twelve booked for 7pm we were chasing our main courses well after 9pm. The setting is lovely and the welcome was warm. Two staff on the bar was not enough. We took drinks outside into the garden to enjoy the sunny evening but went to our table shortly afterwards. The menu was interesting with lots of unusual options, although some items were not available.
The food was good and well presented, but the wait, particularly for our main courses was unacceptable. We also had to ask for water several times before it arrived.
By the time we had eaten our main courses, several people had to leave as they had travelled some distance and it was a school night, so no time for coffee, let alone pudding. The staff dealt well with our different leaving times, but could have been more apologetic about the slow service.
Others have commented on slow service, so it cannot be excused by the size of our party. They need to get this right.

We went for Father's Day late lunch and had decided to walk from town. It was a lovely day but the walk took longer than expected. I called ahead, checked it was ok we were going to be 30 mins late and the lady on the phone was completely fine about it.

However, when we arrived, the lady who greeted us was incredibly rude. We apologised for being late and for that she just said "I know" and then led us to a table which didn't have enough seats. We said there were four of us (we were all standing together so pretty obvious) and she made a noise, pointed at another table and walked off. Very rude!

The rest of the waiting staff we're friendly, if tad forgetful. Drinks we're ordered but didn't arrive, even when things quietened down. We had a lovely waitress who it was her first day, and her first comment was "please bear with me, it's my first shift. Don't know how long ill last here though!".

The jacobs inn has got the decor and the menu just right, and is a really lovely pub. However, people make the experience, and even if you are incredibly busy, there is no excuse for rudeness. We will be going back, but perhaps when it's quieter and less likely to have that rude, scary waitress!

I am in a wheelchair and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. They all had smiles on their faces.. even the chef I passed by asking me if I was happy. Absolutely.
We all enjoyed our more than ample servings of food and the surroundings.
I can say that Jacob's Inn is very disabled friendly in every way. I cannot rate it highly enough.
If we lived closer we would be regulars.
