Good news was a Monday afternoon and no one around next good news sunshine and great views. The course has some really testing holes and greens. The fairways needed a cut and the greens looked great but we're slow. The third looks great but in reality at 461 is too long for a par 4 even downhill ad a good drive can plug or run into rough that is effectively in the middle of the fairway. Pick of the holes for me was probably the first par 5 on the back nine it is a tester overall but condition could be better. Staff very nice.

The course is beautifully positioned with a wonderful view of Oxford. The course itself is a big disappointment. The fairways were dry and the grass very patch. Hitting the fairway did not guarantee a good lie. The greens were very bad. They varied considerably with bare patches and soft spongy areas. A couple of the greens had animal holes in them. As a members course, its standard was below that of many public courses. A real disappointment.

I've played this course many times and absolutely love it. Breathtaking views over Oxford (it's where all the classic photos of the dreaming spires get taken) are complemented by a challenging but enjoyable 18 hole Championship course. If you like to play in wind, and i do, then this is the place for you. The clubhouse serves standard pub grub but also has some well looked after real ale and local bottled beers from the Compass brewery, which keeps me happy.
In addition, there's a 9 hole course and a par 3 both of which are great for the beginner. Good practice facilities as well.
The club has a reputation for bringing on some great juniors and the new pro, Sandy Bolton, is going to keep this going with lots of junior and beginner golf sessions, particularly during school holidays.
You won't find any stuffiness at this place, as can sometimes be the case with golf clubs. The staff and members are very welcoming and keen to get you to come back. There is also lots of work going on with a view to improving all of the facilities, but particularly the golf course.
If you haven't tried Hinksey Heights, or haven't been there in a while, I'd urge you to give it a go. You'll enjoy it

This is a café with a difference because it is somewhat out n the sticks and wouldn't be visited unless you were playing golf at the venue or just happened upon it as a result of a long walk. Woul not recommend at all!
