They have the BEST ice-cream! I especially love the dime bar crunch one, but they have a new range Purity and Danger (which is a bit hilarious to order).
I think it must be done at least once a week if you live in Oxford because it is just too good.

If you have not tried G and D's ice cream then you are missing out on one of the culinary treats of the city. I am not joking. The chain, of which there are three shops in the city, produces all of their own ice cream onsite in their jericho cafe, and the fresh ice cream makes it one of the most popular brands in the city. The staff are polite and efficent and will serve you with commendable speed.

This cafe in Cowley is often busy due to the high student population around so it can be a tad crowded at times with students. However for the sake of G and D's ice cream and the other treats it produces this is worth the minor inconvience and while outside of the city centre, it is along the main cowley road, making it an ideal coffee stop if you have decided to come and see what Cowley is all about.

We tried this place before taking in a film at the Ultimate Picture Palace, which is just across the road.

Inside the main room is fairly crowded with tables, mostly occupied by students with laptops. There must have been a kids program showing at the local cinema, as the afternoon we arrived the place was full of kiddies consuming ice cream.

We had hot filled bagels (mega veggie; and salmon with cream cheese), both of which were excellent. Coffee was OK, not hot enough for my liking.

Service was prompt and polite. By mid afternoon the interior was looking a little untidy with food on the floor and uncleaned tables. There is a high turnover on the tables, so this is something they need to improve upon.

From our experience this is the best cafe closest to the cinema.
