We had seen advertisements pointing to this tiny café but at last we were able to sample it. You can approach it two ways, firstly there is a small alleyway from the High Street and a board shows you the way past a seedy pub. Alternately, you can go along Blue Boar St. and there is an alleyway on the left which leads to it and ultimately to the High St.
The café itself is very clean and modern albeit tiny. There is a counter with stools opposite the serving counter and a back room is a traditional place where you take your shoes off and sit around a raised table oriental style.
The waiter greeted us and asked if we had been there before. We said we hadn't and he patiently explained the procedure. He gave us different small samples to try before we decided what we wanted. First of all you choose a tea base - China / Black / Taiwan / Jasmin / Green / Baked Oolong. Then you choose topping and flavour - whole milk / honey / lemon / topping Tapioca pearls which are black little pellets which are chewed. Then Ice and or sugar are added.
Additionally there are specials - Almond Milk Tea / Sesame Milk tea / Tea with seasonal jam.
They can also supply soya milk instead of whole milk for those like me who are dairy intolerant.
Once our order was placed, we were given a piece of paper with a number but were quickly served. The tea was in a plastic container and chilled with ice - just the thing on a hot day and we were given a straw which when unwrapped was to pierce the thin paper top sealing the tea.
There were nuts for sale but nothing else but tea. There is also a staff toilet which patrons can use if you ask and they control it with a button from behind the counter. It is clean albeit small and this makes sure that it is only used by customers. We were also given a loyalty card and if we have five teas we can have one free. We shall certainly return.
