Looking for a nice place serving at some kind of local food we found O'Neill's.
Place looks more like a pub or a sport-pub, with flat TV's showing soccer matches and a lot of people actually following them. This surprised us a bit at first, but as we found out they did actually serve few local dishes we decided to stay.
Looking back it was a good choice:
1) food was great (lamb stew & steak pie)
2) beer & ales were good too (surprisingly the best promoted beer was Kozel from Czech republic)
3) service was good too

Just happened to drop in when walking past as there was live music on a Saturday afternoon, the atmosphere was great and full of older folk ( nearly everyone was 40 plus) having a great time. The drinks were good though strangely different prices for the four rounds we had even though we had the same drinks!
Went back in two more times to watch the bands that evening.
Good night out all round

I do have a bit of an issue going into an Irish bar when I'm on holiday - guess where I'm from! Decent service, in decent surroundings. One slight puzzle was the second round of drinks was cheaper than the first - despite being exactly the same order - it was only pence and the second one was cheaper - makes you wonder...

This was our first time in an O'Neill's. Was quite busy when we went in so had to sit at a table which wouldn't have been our first choice, it was very dark and right by the door down to the toilets. There was only one person on the bar so ordering drinks took a while. We then went back to order food after we'd looked at the menu which had something to please most people. The menu ranged from sandwiches to full meals with light bites and sharing meals in between.

Our food arrived after a 20 min wait, all the meals looked appetising and quite big portions. All of the meals tasted great, certainly good value for money and the service great, meals were checked after about 5 mins of receiving them.

Special mention to Eamonn, very helpful, friendly and chatty. Will definitely be returning to O'Neill's although perhaps not in Oxford as its not near our home which is a shame.
