My family and I (eight of us) spent the afternoon touring the Oxford colleges with David on a walking tour. We had flown into Heathrow that morning, so were a bit travel weary, but David's humor and fascinating stories kept our attention and energy up. David also provided a us with great recommendations for restaurants and pubs to visit while in Oxford. Thanks again to David for a delightful afternoon.

Our family spent a wonderful afternoon strolling around Oxford with a genial and professional guide, David Gunnell. David was very quick to reply to our booking request and was anxious to plan a tour that would suit our interests. David's enthusiasm for the city is contagious. We learned a great deal about the history and structure of the university while taking in the sights of beautiful buildings and gardens. Thank you so much David for taking us on memorable tour. My husband and I did a private walking tour with David a few weeks ago. Firstly, David went out of his way to help me organize the day so we would see the most possible. He answered numerous emails and researched times of Oxford only tours at the library. He must have spent in excess of 3 hours helping us prepare for our 3 hour tour because I was quite indecisive. He never expressed a hint of impatience.

He met us before the appointed time, took us to a great pub, and delivered us to our library tour at the end of the day.

He was personable and VERY knowledgeable. He provided details off the cuff that showed that he is a person who does not just know the canned stuff any guide can give you but is well read and intellectual. Like reminding us that one of our PM's John Turner had been a Rhodes Scholar and then being able to discuss his political career with us. Or realizing we were Jewish, telling us the history of the first Jewish student at Oxford.
Very impressive.

Highly recommend.

David Gunnell was a lovely guide, with brilliant knowledge of the local area, the history and bringing history to life, and of course the much loved links to 'Harry Potter' that got everyone's attention. We were part of a group from all over the world, so as much as they were fascinated by the past and history of Oxford, the one thing that captured everyone's attention was the shared love of 'Harry'. David obliged by incorporating the new history with the old and we had a lot of fun. Having spent two days travelling around on the open top bus, it was great to get inside these amazing buildings and see close up the beauty of the workmanship and architecture. Plus be shown those little secrets that you just don't spot if not being shown around by someone who loves his job but is really good at it too. Thank you David, and we hope we meet again - The Essex Tribe.

I was responsible for taking 20 international delegates into Oxford to see the sights. Daunted by the prospect of not knowing what to say and where to go, I contacted David Gunnell of Oxford City Walks who designed the tour. We visited the very famous buildings in the city centre and gained access into the University of Oxford, New College. This was fascinating and along with very interesting historical facts of the College, David mentioned the recent use of the College for the Harry Potter film the Goblet of Fire and provided extra fun by producing from his bag a Harry Potter robe, Gryffindor scarf and glove puppet owl for the delegates to dress up in for photographs next to the tree that featured in the film.
David's knowledge of history, international connections to Oxford relevant to my group, art, literature relating to Oxford and details of recent architectural restorations (in particular the new gargoyles reflecting Oxfords literary past) was in depth, punctuated with lots of humour, song and poetry recital.
I couldn't rate this tour highly enough and anyone who would like to spend a couple of hours (at least) with David on an Oxford City Walk, is in for a very real treat! Thanks David, your talk was chatted about all throughout the delegates stay in Oxford!
