“Somewhere to Stay”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

I stay here on a faily reqular basis, its in a convenient location for when working in Oxford and the surrounding area's, the last visit was probably the worst for a long time unfortunatly my room heater did not work so i was transfered to another which was marginally better, it quite sad as the staff are a really friendly bunch! I just think they are let down by bad maintenance of rooms and services within!!

Room Tip: Certainly DONT have the rooms on the first floor above the reception area - the doors are opening an...

Have not that much complains about hotel except my room carpet was dusty. Other wise great location off the M40 for travellers like me on the way to Manchester from London looking for a place to rest and sleep.

Room above with 5 teenagers in made unbearable noise from the the time they occupied (we know now that it was 2 am in early hours of morning that they took possession as we met them in reception next morning)to be told by reception that hotel security had asked them to make less noise or leave hotel which they new nothing about obviously no security had asked. My Granddaughter with partner and 2 year son had to move rooms as noise so bad spoiling our weekend away treat to Blenheim palace (Grandparents were in separate room )as every body was so tired ,no manager was available to see and speak to us at any time in person so reception placed a call to manager who was completely rude and suggested it was us who were causing trouble and would call hotel security to remove us,never had that happen to me before so will not be using Days Inn's again.

Room Tip: Make sure reception vets who comes into there hotel in the early hours of morning and what they are...

Receptionist was super efficient in dealing with us arriving early and getting us a taxi to go to Le Manoir. Nothing was a problem to her and she explained all we needed to know very well. Room not bad, some of the border wallpaper falling off the wall and one of the feet was missing from the divan double bed. Bed was very comfortable and room had plenty of tea and coffee. Main problem was actually finding the Hotel in a very large busy service area. It could do with better signage especially as we were staying overnight and needed to park near the entrance. Logging the car in at reception for overnight parking was easy as we knew about it.

Room Tip: On the first floor away from the hotels service entrance. Laundry Van called about 6:15am the night...

They actually have a smoking section which permeates throughout the whole hotel. Beware two floors with no elevator if you have bags. Location is on a grubby motorway service area with difficult parking, but you must have a car. Traffic nightmare for the 8 mile drive to Oxford - allow at least 30 minutes most times. Rooms have a fancy key system to control the power. As you enter the room, it is guaranteed to be cold as the electric (lights and heating) is off until you place your key in a slot. While this may be beneficial for the hotel, it definitely hurts the guest as you must turn off the electric when leaving your room. You can be assured of a bitterly cold room upon your return. Even with the power on, the heating is inadequate. Do not try to check in before 2pm as all room magically become available at 2pm.

Room Tip: Get as far from the smoking section as possible and on the ground floor.

Stayed for one night, what you expect clean and surprisingly quiet despite being located in a services! Good curtains as I needed to sleep in the afternoon and the light was kept out and at night it was totally dark.
Paid when checked in so check out at 630 am swift. Nothing outstanding nothing terrible. Did the job!

Good - access to Oxford and London- Mini-fridge in room & free WIFI
Not so good - view of car park (but its a service station)

Functional overnight stay in a small, warm and comfortable room (1 double & 1 single bed, TV, ensuite bath & shower, hairdryer, tea/coffee and bics.). Purpose built modern-ish block like a youth hostel but much cleaner & better equipped room. No lounge/public area that I saw other than entrance foyer. Mini fridge in room (hurrah!) & microwave in foyer means I will return! Parking at door - its a motorway service station. No breakfast included: Waitrose next door and Burger King etc. adjacent. Handy for local bus/train `park and ride' to London #Haddenham & Thame station is 45 mins journey time to London, about 75 on the X90 coach to Marble Arch from Thornhill park & ride# and for access to Oxford where I was on business. Felt secure as lone female with children: site uses CCTV and car number plate recognition - ANPR. No in room safe but we didnt go out. Could have stayed another night comfortably. Helpful desk staff - emergency essentials on sale at reception. Good for breaking your journey. Free WIFI

Room Tip: Suoerior room described here for my stay
