“Visited whilst on a course”
Reviewed March 5, 2014 via mobile

The hotel was clean and convenient for my week long course. The breakfast was ok, quite a bit to choose from. I went at 630 everyday so it wasn't busy, can't say what it would have been like later on. Theres no where to get evening meal, but you can order takeaway or get a 10% discount with your key at a few food places at the complex next door (not frankie and bennys though).
Bed was a little weird, felt like a water bed as moved every time I moved but got used to it. Nights were ok apart from having drunk women running around shouting in the hallways all night (1-3am!). People asked them to quieten down (including me) but made no difference.
Other than that - free parking, bar, free wireless, free breakfast, would consider it again if I went on another course.

Dear Guest

thank you for sending in your comments. I am sorry that there were noisy women running around. I would ask that at any time if there is any noise that the guest contacts reception. Our night team would ask the other people to behave or they would be asked to leave the hotel. I am pleased that despite this disturbance that you were overall, pleased with the hotel.
Kind regards

If you're working in Cowley or nearby this is in a great location. It's a Holiday Inn express and so pretty similar to all others. Located next to the Kassam Stadium it's a way out of Oxford and most of the guests seem to be German and working at BMW locally. Breakfast is a big let down, it's the usualy Holiday Inn Express cold buffet with the addition of scambled egg, beans an sausage - however it's served in what feels like a small glass walk in closet, which means you're having to navigate around everyone else trying to cook toast or make coffee - very odd experience.

There is no restaurant so evening meal options are a local all you can eat chinese buffet, an indian buffet restaurant (both of which can be charged to your room), Frankie and Bennys or there is a special telephone in the lobby to order in pizza. The bar is ok and the bar staff are great, but it's not very comfortable and only has quite hard chairs to sit on with one sofa, so not somewhere you'd want to spend the evening.

On the positive side, its very reasonably priced and close to the cinema and bowling if you're bored!

Dear Mitch D,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. It is unfortunate the food selections prevented you from fully enjoying your time at the hotel. We are confident the necessary adjustments will be made, in order to achieve complete guest satisfaction.

Thank you again for your comments, we look forward to serving you in the future.

Sincerely,

I have stayed here for a week recently for business and this is the second time I have stayed. THe first visit I was here for the night and I found the room to be large and comfortable. My most recent stay I was in a different room and found it to still be comfortable and well maintained.

The beds are comfortable and with a selection of pillows from firm to soft meant I had a really good night sleep. The showers dont have the highest water pressure (i like a good strong shower) but was well sized.

Tea and coffee ameinities arent very well stocked in the room (two coffee sachets, one decaff, two tea bags, two brown and two white sugars).

As there is no resturant onsite for a evening meal, there is an agreement with two restuarants in the nearby Vue complex where I was able to charge the food back to the room.

I did find that the wifi was very intermittant so working in my room was a little difficult at times.

Dear guest
Thank you for posting your review. I am pleased that you found the hotel "good overall." We have upgraded our wi fi which is now complimentary, I am therefore very concerned about the signal strength. I would appreciate it if you could email me to let me know the room that you were in so that we can check the wifi in that area?

Paid £112 for a double room. Bed great, not brilliantly clean around the corners. Found used contact lens stuck to bottom of my foot after walking around. Breakfast was self-service and adequate quality albeit a few degrees warmer would have been a bonus. Got there at 9pm, and was out again at 7.30am.

Form fit for purpose is how I would explain these hotels. Every one I have stayed in is about the same. I was on the ground floor and room was fine, but I think their beds are quite soft compared to most. At last free Wi Fi, used to be £16. The choice of pillows is a great idea.

Breakfast is simple and straight forward, but all you need to start your day.

Happy to recommend as an out of town quite hotel.

Room Tip: It is a very quite slightly industrial area, with a Vue cinema Frankie & Benny's restaurant...

Did a weekend here with friends - a college reunion in town. Interesting location on match day, but, as all HIE hotels very clean and comfortable. Hotel has a deal with a taxi firm - flat rate 10 GBP trip into centre of Oxford (15 GBP for minibus) so park car and save on city centre parking. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is typical of all in the brand - as one of my hotelier friends commented - tasteless " this sausage has never been near a pig, nor the egg near a chicken!!! However the selection of other stuff was good and plentiful. Nice stay overall - if you're visiting Oxford it is the best value for money.

Visit here a few times when on bussiness in Oxford, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The wifi however is very temperamental and can be a bit of a pain.
The breakfast is plentiful, but had a wait a while for items to be topped up.

Overall great place to stay for the stadium or for a one night stop over when in the area.

Dear Guest
Thank you for sending in your comments. I was pleased to note the description as a "nice place".
I have also noted that you found that the wifi was temperamental. This is obviously annoying. Would you mind emailing me the room number that you stayed in, to enable a system check in that area?
