Visited oxford Blue as a last minute birthday choice due to Byron burger being closed because of a hot water problem. The pub is very nice inside with some quirky décor. We were also very pleased that they kept the kitchen open late for our table. The service was friendly and attentive. The menu was small which is a good thing in my book as it usually means things are freshly made, however there were some slightly odd choices for a gastro pub and a lack of classic dishes you might expect. Our group mainly opted for the burgers. I wasn't expecting them to be as good as Byrons, but I wasn't expecting them to be as bad as they were. I ordered mine medium with blue cheese. It came cold and cremated in an oversized slightly stale roll. As did my partners and her mothers. The triple cooked chips were not triple cooked, they weren't even twice cooked and were more like potato wedges. Why didn't we say something I hear you ask. It was late, we were starving and I didn't want to put a downer on the birthday. Maybe the lateness has something to do with the poor quality of food but I won't be returning in a hurry.
