“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

We stayed there Friday night, after booking in to a theatre in Oxford centre. The Hotel was easy to find, but the car park (which you have to book in advance) is very small, and not well signposted. The Hotel location was wonderful, we were about a five minute walk from the main attractions. The room we stayed in was on the top floor, overlooking the river, and was the 'Oscar Wilde' room. It was beautifully furnished to a very high standard, with a little writing desk, and chests instead of side tables. The bed was very high, and extremely comfy, with good quality bedding, duck and down quilt, and lovely crisp sheets. The bathroom had both a rain shower, and a normal shower head, and was very clean and nice.

The lack of tea and coffee making equipment wasn't great, but was delivered if you asked.

Over all I would say that the hotel was fantastic and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: ask for the Oscar Wilde room for romance.

A Fullers pub, a good range of London Ales. Nice decor, nice scenic view of river. Will be back next time in Oxford in next year or so. Fairly busy with lots of tourists. Get to try small samples of Ales etc for free to see what you like, which is good Sales And Marketing.

We stayed for 2 nights with friends in October, our room was compact and only had one small window so was quite dark. We didn't have a view of the river but this also meant we didn't have traffic noise. We were on the 1st floor, you can certainly hear people walking around on the floor above although we didn't suffer with this as much as our friends did. As others have mentioned for £120 per night you would expect tea/coffee making facilities - having said that you could call reception from 7.30am to 11pm and request tea/coffee - we did this a few times and it arrived within 5 minutes so not a problem. The 1st night the water in our shower did not drain away - we mentioned it on our way out and the the problem had been resolved when we got back. Good location on the river, near Christchurch and 10 minute walk from the shopping area. The young guys that work on reception and bar were great, friendly, hard working and pleased to help. Breakfast was nice, ordered what you wanted, they also had muslei and apple/orange juice that you could help yourself to. Strangely jam, sauces etc you had to ask for - it would have been quicker (and easier for the staff) if these had either been on the tables or on the communal table.
The drinks prices in the bar seemed expensive compared to other pubs we visited in Oxford - also no late night bar for residents. All in all we had a lovely stay but go to London for weekends fairly frequently and stay in better hotels with more facilities for less (ie. hotels with tea/coffee making, room safe, mini bar, gym etc..)

Have just spent four nights here in a room over looking the river. The staff were very helpfull and polite. No tea or coffee making facility in the room, but could be provided if required. Room very clean and tidy with en-suite bathroom. Food very good but the evening menu was a bit limited. Would recommend to anybody staying in Oxford. We took the train so parking was not a problem but as said before if you are taking the car book a space. The area for parking is very linited and is also the delivery area.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south & east side would be the better option with an upgrade.

Great location within walking distance of the city center.
Good breakfast served promptly.
Can be noisy in the pub below before 11pm.
Never received a bill for our 7 nights, just a charge on our card for $1650.
Pleasant staff was helpful with all our requests.
Clean room with plenty of hot water. Sheets should have been changed more often.
WiFi worked good 24/7 with good speed.
Guinness available in two temperatures.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor and in the back for a quiet night. Number 3 is quiet and has a larg...

We stayed two nights in a charming room facing the river. Looking out the window onto the water with the punting boats had a timeless feel. The staff was incredibly accomodating from storing our luggage to arranging a cab for us. We were quite surprised that the room came with a full and Delicious breakfast.
This is not a fancy hotel but rather a charming inn that made our stay in Oxford comfortable and fun.

Room Tip: We loved our room on the water although there was some traffic noise at times...

Date of stay: 24 Sept 2012. You either like it, or you don't. We loved it! Very different to a "normal" hotel. The room we were allocated was "quaint", comfortable and clean with an en-suite shower etc. The pub downstairs has a real "olde world" atmoshphere with good food. I loved the breakfast menu...although this did include the usual full English breakfast, there were other options and my Eggs Royale were really done nicely! A great location within walking distance of most attractions in Oxford. The Christ Church Meadow can be entered from directly behind the hotel and provides some excellent walking paths. Parking is very limited so be sure to book a space in advance. Service was good.
