Description: Welcome to Oxford's favourite pub.Just outside the old city gates in Oxford's historic suburb, you'll find The Jericho Tavern, a bastion of beautiful beers damn fine pub food and upcoming musical talent - so our learned patrons tell us. There's a touch of The Jericho's bohemian spirit about the pub, which is a hub of activity throughout the week and a favourite with film fans of the nearby Phoenix cinema.

I booked a table for 14 of us to eat in the garden last Saturday night and we had a brilliant time!Great service, great food and a very relaxed and informal fun atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We went to the pub for Sunday lunch and had the most indescribably appalling food I think I have ever had!! Roast beef was so tough and gristly it was inedible, the cubes of under cooked beige something were disgusting and the carrots tasted as though they had been sat in water for a week.
It's a shame as overall the pub was okay with a good atmosphere ... but avoid the food at all cost!

This is a proper gastropub: better than average food and good drinks, in a good atmosphere.

The food is certainly than you'd expect: someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing judging by the fish cakes and terrific dessert I had last night. Some of it is pub staples with a twist, but it's all done with élan.

The only downside is that the Jericho is popular with locals and so it's hard to get a table on weekends. But if you can manage it - Sunday lunch time seems a bit quieter - then you're in luck. In summer there's some nice outdoor space.

The art house Phoenix cinema is literally next door so this is the perfect place to eat and drink beforehand.

Was looking forward to visiting the Jericho Tavern for the Katmen concert but was disappointed.

Nice looking place but not quite grimey enough for a concert venue. Drinks-wise it also lacks a little.

"Cask Ales" are advertised but seeming only downstairs are they available - bottles only upstairs. Service is lacking, tables not cleared and overall it smacks of the manager not really giving a stuff.

A shame

This place has so much atmosphere, great live music night upstairs, good basic pub food and is located at the centre of the trendy Jericho night scene, so why oh why can't they just get the details right, such as clearing the glasses and rubbish off the tables and wiping them and the bar down? It is not a pleasant experience sticking to tables and coming home with coat sleeves stinking of someone else's spilt ale, simply because lazy undertrained bar staff can't be bothered to keep standards up. It is annoying as I would like to use this as a regular stop off but have been disappointed every time.
