From the outside and also reception, the hotel on the face of it looks 4 star. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
This impression lasts until you get to the room. I got a "deal" (which was £99) and at that price, the room just about passes muster. Premier Inn standard and no more, at least for a standard room.
The bathroom was sub Premier Inn and the shower amounted to no more than a dribble.
Bar area is dominated by a large TV, which "had the football on" and had no more than a couple of weary looking gents nursing pints in it.
It looked as though the gym probably keeps local people coming through, but other than that, a pretty anonymous proposition.
I would stick to the corporate hotels in future (which were no more expensive).

Room Tip: You would definitely want to be to the rear of the hotel, busy road out front and no air conditionin...

We stayed here around 9 years ago and were struck by the proximity to the city centre, but also the food and the restaurant which was excellent. Fast forward to last week and the closeness to the city is still the same but the food (vegetarian) is disappointing to say the least. My husband was offered every type of meat available plus two choices of fish - I on the other hand was offered a butternut squash risotto or a cannelloni ???
We will stay here again, its a lovely hotels with attentive staff, nice rooms etc but not value for money for vegetarians - bed and breakfast in the future - the hotel is close to many restaurants in the city.

This was a great location for the city centre. Everything was within walking distance so no need to use the car. Ample car parking around the Hotel and with easy access to an entrance close to your room. Our room was warm and comfortable and a very decent size. No complaints on the restaurant, breakfast had a good selection and the evening meals were very good if a little pricey. Would stay here again. No time to use the Spa facilities.

Recently stayed here with my partner while attending a wedding and have to say that I was definitely dissatisfied with not only the bedroom, bathroom but also the service provided by the employees of the hotel.
The wedding seemed to run smoothly but the staff seemed a bit lacklustre and it all seemed as they were being put out by being there.
I have used Four Pillars hotels a lot in business and usually am impressed and while some of this hotel has had a refurb some of it really needs it. We were staying in room 212 and the room was tiny, dark and the bathroom looked untidy and not very clean.
I would not stay at this particular Four Pillars again.

I've stayed at this Hotel during a number of business trips to Oxford over the past seven years. The standard of the rooms does vary a little but I've only had one that was a little squeeze. The rooms are always clean and the staff are friendly. The Library Bar is quite nice, as is the restaurant. There probably aren't too many Hotels in Oxford that have ample parking but are still within a 20 minute walk of the city centre.

Room Tip: I prefer the upstairs rooms & the refurbished rooms at the back of the complex. It's further...

Three couples checked in around 2 in the afternoon and I was the first one to enter the lobby with NO acknowledgement from the 2 men at the desk. The rest of the party entered and and the men walked up to the desk and still no greeting. One looked at the other and rolled his eyes, so now we are not off to a real good start. Our rooms were ready and off we went. The rooms are accommodating with roomy baths and a small couch . The tv in our room and our friends has to be manually turned off. Who knows. We had not eaten lunch so decided to go to the lobby lounge where we could get something. The young man was very nice and the ladies decided to have high tea. It was ok but nothing great as the sandwiches were large and not truly English, but the tea and scones were good and all we needed. No AC so we all asked for fans and they brought those along with another towel as we all only had one per room. The fan helped immensely and we all had a good sleep. Breakfast was included and it was nice with a good selection. Walk out of the hotel and down the drive and you can catch a bus to downtown Oxford, but it is walking distance to several nice restaurants. All in all the hotel is nice but is a bit overpriced for what you get.
