We went for a short break and had decided to book one of their more expensive rooms. The room was a ground floor one with windows facing the car park and the entrance to the building, but neither window had lace curtains, so other guests could not help but look into the room; therefore very little privacy.

On both the Friday and Saturday nights of our stay the hotel hosted private parties and this was particularly noisy.

The restaurant did not have a particularly appealing menu, so we decided to eat in the bar where the service was very good and food of a decent standard. Breakfast was very good and service very efficient.

Overall we were disappointed and we did provide feedback via the form left in or room, but failed to get any reaction.

This is a nice middle of the range hotel. The rooms are clean and all necessary services are available. However it is very impersonal and staff do not go out of there way to help.

We arrived at 6pm with two children lots of baggage and were given wrong directions to our room. After realising this we struggled back through the many doors to reception to ask again where we should go? Twenty minutes later we found our room with no offer of help.

Then we were told that the pool could not be used as it was in use for private aqua aerobics!!!! It's peak holiday season taking the use of pool away from visitors NOT a goos idea.

It is a nice hotel and facilities are good but staff service very impersonal!

We stayed three nights which included 3 course evening meal and breakfast for total of £375 which was great value for money. The meals were excellent, well presented and tasty. All staff were very helpful and obliging. On two occasions we tried out the Willows Leisure Club and thoroughly enjoyed the pool, steam room and sauna (did not use the gym). The room was a standard double and we were fortunate enough to have rear facing room 231 which overlooked the water meadows. Decor a bit tired and room a shade dark as small windows, but very comfortable with all you require and good tea/coffee facilities. Free car park a bonus. Would happily stay there again, no complaints, and within lovely 20min walk along river into Oxford Town centre.

Room Tip: Room 231 is an excellent standard double room at rear of hotel overlooking water meadows

What a lovely calm oasis so close to Oxford town centre too! Good wine range that was throrughly tested during our week there, beds comfy and rooms clean and tidy, food was fairly decent too. Service was discreet and unobtrusive what more could I need ? Oh I know another week here.

Room Tip: rooms in the house at the front of the swimming pool recently refurbished

Our room had a balcony and was quite spacious. The bar staff were very good but the breakfast was fairly ordinary. It was conveniently located to walk into town which was very handy.Basically the hotel suited the purpose for the conference we were attending but I wouldn't choose to stay again if we were holidaying in the same area....

Have just returned from a four night stay with our German friends. The hotel was excellent, particularly the location. Parking is a problem in Oxford so to be able to walk in 15 minutes to the shops and colleges was great. This walk was along the river - again lovely. Good choice at breakfast, comfortable room, quiet and very helpful staff. We would definately come here again.

Just finished a 3 week trip to UK, staying at a variety of hotels and B&Bs, in the moderate to upper price bracket. Arriving late into Oxford and finding little in available accommodation we settled on a night at the Four Pillars. 190 pounds. Undeniably a beautiful setting but the staff were very snooty and unhelpful. My partner ordered a beer which was served in a glass inadequtely rinsed. Tasted of washing liquid but was refused a replacement. Breakfast very average and hot food wasn't. Internet charged at 15 pounds an hour!! in conclusion, very shiny and corporate but no atmosphere and decidedly lacking in customer relations.
