“Very good place to stay”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Stayed here for a weekend with a friend, and have to say that the hotel did actually make the weekend. Certainly the best Holiday Inn I have stayed in, both in this country and abroad. We chose it because you know just about what you are going to get with the Holiday Inn chain but this was even better than I hoped. Ok, the surroundings aren't brilliant (near large roundabout), but the park and ride service into Oxford is brilliant and operates until quite late Monday to Saturday. The hotel was extremely clean, with comfortable rooms, a pleasant bar area and an excellent buffet breakfast. The pool is nice and wasn't too crowded, with sauna and hot tub. I would really commend the staff, who were universally helpful and friendly. It is well located for Woodstock and Blenheim, as well as Oxford. Certainly hope to return.

We booked on the number given on the Holiday inn website and got the dinner , breakfast and family room deal. We arrived and were greeted by the very friendly and helpful receptionist who told us everything we needed to know. We went to our room which was lovely and clean and spacious. We later went down to dinner where we were greeted by Roy the manager who was very friendly and professional. Our meal was superb and well worth every penny. We had a swim in the pool which was included in the price of our stay, we were provided with towels free and the pool was amazing. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely come back again and I would highly recommend it to other people.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in March as I had training in Oxford. The downside is that this is not in the city, more located in a motorway service area, but as I was driving it was easy to find and had plenty of parking on site. The hotel itself is like any other big chain hotel, pleasant on the eye, check in was a breeze and the receptionist I felt went above and beyond to be welcoming, I had an accessible room on the ground floor (did not request this) so it was bigger, comfortable bed, usual amenities and cleaned everyday. I only had breakfast here and this again was great, big selection and unlimited. I did not use the restaurant in the evening as it didn't appeal to me being a single traveller. Downsides were; no free internet, in this day and age and from a big hotel group I thought this was stupid when you could get free internet at a much smaller hotel across the way. Only other thing I didnt like was the leisure club, it's nice enough but because the sell memberships it gets way too crowded in the evenings, also was a little put off as kids from age 6 were allowed to use the pool/sauna/jacuzzi unsupervised. Would stay here again for business but think I would look for somewhere more central if it was for pleasure.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your recent review of the Holiday Inn Oxford. I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit for business purposes and that you found the hotel suitable for your needs, however apologies that free wifi access is not a standard across the whole of the Holiday Inn Hotel group.
Even though we are not situated within the city, you can take a 5-10 minute park & ride bus trip or call a taxi from Reception.

Staying nearby we used this facility for an evening meal, as non residents. As we were Holiday Inn first timers, our initial reaction was amazement at the seemingly so expensive prices for a modest restaurant setting - clean and bright, but not much else to offer.
However, we became satisified by the good and friendly service of a meal that was very well presented and was of an unexpectedly fine quality - so, although costly for a 'service area' venue, we found ourselves to be satisfied with the experience.

Room Tip: As non residents we cannot offer advice, but colleagues informed of spacious facilities, albeit quit...

I have visited the hotel twice in the last month. The first time on business and the second time with my family. For both uses the hotel was perfect. Lovely breakfast, nice swimming pool with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi (all of which can be used by children over 6 which is unusual), better than average gym with a good range of cardio equipment, kettlebells and dumbbells (no barbell however), great location (just by the Pear Tree park and ride - buses every eight minutes for a 10 minute trip into Oxford - £2.25 return for adults and free for children). Apart from a mix up with our rooms which was sorted out by the acting manager (a sign of a good establishment in my opinion, if problems are sorted to everyone's satisfaction), a very pleasant stay on both occasions and I am sure we will return.

We stayed for one night in an Executive Room at £135 per night which is expensive but normal for Oxford. The room was a good size with all amenities you would need and spotlessly clean. The Hotel itself is situated next to the busy Pear Tree Roundabout and a main road so I was worried about road noise. As it was the double glazing and wooden blackout blinds ensured that the room was almost silent. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and there is ample free parking. The Hotel is a way out of the City but very convienently situated. It is a much nice hotel than the Oxford Premier Inn but you do pay a premium for it.

Miles away from the history and elegance of Oxford, sited by an unappealing roundabout well out of town. This hotel is located in an out of town desert. Best to come to by car, though there is a regular bus connection if you can find the stop and don't get run down in the pedestrian unfriendly car park. Best to research this in advance, and the staff are very helpful.

The room and bed were comfortable, quiet and the linen clean, though the heating/AC appeared not to work.

Generally the hotel lacks a little maintenance and cleaning, typified by the swimming pool's shredded plastic ceiling flapping continually in a rather forlorn manner with the help of the mechanical ventilation system.

The breakfast buffet is potentially filling but rather undistinguished.
