We stayed here for one night as we had a relative in hospital . Dial house has clearly been a grand property in the past but it is very tired and run down , the toilet didn't flush and the water pump was noisy throughout the night , we highlighted this on checking out and it wasn't taken very seriously, cash only not impressed !

My sister-in-law and I stayed in the twin room on the third floor for seven nights. It is a modest, comfortable, affordable, clean venue. Booking was online and went without a hitch. Our room was fine, the ensuite was small but manageable. Our only criticism was the hand held shower head apparatus.....there was no hook to make it an overhead shower. Experience as a contortionist is helpful at this point. The breakfast room was cheery and bright and we enjoyed our large meals. It is 2 miles from city centre but not a particularly enjoyable walk. The bus stops right out the front door...a great advantage..check out 24 hr, 3 day and weekly passes as it is a great way to get around the city. Although on a busy road and with a full house at times, the B&B was extremely quite. The coach to London and/or Heathrow stops about 3 blocks away in Headington every half hour. More detailed instructions about the Dial House location after disembarking the bus would have been helpful (cross the street and go LEFT about 3 long blocks). Headington has 9 charity shops which are fun to browse and the White Horse is a lovely pub. Free Computer use and Internet was an advantage. Everyone we interacted with was very nice. All in all, we agreed we would stay at the Dial House again if the opportunity arises. The Red Mullens B&B next door looked interesting too.

the room we stayed in was very modern, with a new shower room. the room did remind me of a barge though as it was a long narrow room. the staff were friendly. and the breakfast was ok, more on the warm side rather than hot. but there was plenty of selection. the access into the city was poor there was a bus stop directly outside of the guest house but unless you are a keen walker then the walk would not be for you as it is over half an hour.

Room Tip: you will need to get a bus to access the city of oxford or a taxi, the walk into the city is about 4...

I needed accommodation for a last minute stopover to Oxford. I required one room for myself and 2 children( 14/9), in a central location, with car parking. Not too pricey!! Dial house fitted the bill. Our booking was all done via the Internet and everything was in order when we arrived. The front entrance and hallway wasn't very smart, and would benefit from freshening up. It was a little stressful checking in as the gal wasn't fluent in English, but we managed enough to get to our room. This was a real bonus, it was very spacious and airy. We had large bay windows looking over the main road. TV, Internet, all worked great. Complementary tea included. A generous selection of toiletries, always a bonus, and plenty of towels, what a delight! The bus stop to the center of Oxford was just outside, and all of 5
mins away, really easy to navigate. You couldn't go wrong.
The breakfast room was full in the morning, but I hadn't heard any sounds during the night! Breakfast was standard English fair, enough to satisfy all appetites and included in the price. A great deal!!! If you are looking for value in central Oxford, Dial House would be hard to beat!

Room Tip: clean and comfortable, faced onto a main road, but didn't find it noisy.

Helpful hosts and staff. All willing to help. Were very helpful with friend in a wheelchair. Nice selecion for breakfast. The suburb of Headington has wonderful restaurants and shops which are nice and handy when you stay here.

When phoning the day before arrival to check arrangements, I was told there had been a misunderstanding and we were only booked for one night not two. Arrangements were then made with a friend of the landlady who ran another guest house further out of town. This proved disastrous and spoiled our stay altogether.
The large room we were given was otherwise very nice and of hotel standard, location is very good for Oxford Brookes graduation. Breakfast was disappointing, bland and minimal which did not make this good value.
We will not book there again in view of what happened.

We stayed quite a few times at Dial house, enjoying clean rooms, nice breakfast, and friendly staff - and not least, the nice garden which we loved to sit in evenings - not a formal or very flowery garden, but peaceful, and lots of wonderful trees!! Then someone had apparently decided that they needed a cafe, and the next time we came, the place was a buliding site and very unpleasant (the place still advertising its garden!). We gave them a second chance and went back a year after, and discovered that the garden view from our favorite room had disappeared for good - the view now being a huge construction of a building - and no garden. We never went back again, but found a lovely guest house down the road which has an even better garden. We wonder how the cafe is doing at the Dial House - seems unlikely that there would be enough guests to keep it going - too bad!
