“Superb view, lovely concert and the grandchildren can go up the tower”
Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

We were taking our grandchildren, two and five, up Carfax, but they are too young. The guy at Carfax recommended St Michael's and he was so right. The church is a thousand years old and beautiful. The children climbed the 97 steps to the wonderful roof area with splendid views over Oxford. And the icing on the cake was a concert with pianist and soloist performing in the church. Excellent value and very helpful staff.

“Not the prettiest church”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

I found the interior quite scattered and haphazard. The organ was an unusual style, if you like organs. Expect a fee for the tower (I didn't go).

“The interior looks terrible but the evensong made up for it..”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

It's oxfords oldest building.. we where really shocked how they restored the interior!! It looks terrible and it doesn't fit the building at all.

The only positive thing was the evensong and we were lucky because there was also a Bach cantate. It really was beautiful!!

“Tower offers beautiful views”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

The church tower dates back to 1050 and is considered one of the oldest buildings in Oxford. The inside of the church is small and quaint. For a small fee you can climb the tower though and that is the highlight of this location. Due to the tower's central location, the views from the top are amazing. On the way up the stairs, you also get a behind the scenes look at the clock mechanism including the bells that chime. You can pay a pound to make the bells chime which was neat to watch.
