I have written 20 reviews all of them positive except this one. My friend and I go away together once a year. It is a special treat I have organised for the last 6 years. We have stayed in wonderful places, but not this time. It is my belief that if you have a problem you give the hotel/B&B a chance to put it right. I did mention the one very thin hand towel between two friends but the promised extra towel did not appear. There was no apology for there not being a wardrobe or chest of drawers, apparently three hangers on the wall with a fixed work top underneath should suffice for two ladies for three nights. We lived out of our suitcases and felt like the maids at the top of the house. This room was called a classic that is not the basic. When I asked what the difference was it appears that the basic has even more road noise! At over £100 a night with no shower gel or paper hankies this is not good value.
The breakfast was variable. The fruit salad is tinned, the toast basic. One morning the tiny egg was supported by half a tomato and one meagre slice of bacon. The next morning, presumably a different cook, provided a whole tomato, two rashers of bacon and the offer of two eggs as they were so small.
The bus to the centre was quick and frequent and Oxford was a brilliant place to visit, just don't stay at Parklands.

Room Tip: Do not go for a twin room here and if you must go make sure you are at the back.

My son and I stayed here for one night in a twin room as part of our driving tour of the UK.

Our room was in the attic, up many stairs, so we left our suitcases in the car and just took up what we needed for overnight and the next morning - saved lots of huffing and puffing and also freed up space in the room.

Both the bedroom and bathroom were freshly and comfortably decorated. Although our window faced the side street, there was some traffic noise from Banbury Road, but not too bad.

The hotel is well located with a bus stop close by for a quick trip into Oxford city centre. The car park was an important factor in selecting Parklands, and we had no trouble finding a spot, although the car park is small.

The shared areas are nicely decorated; breakfast was served in a sunny room overlooking the garden, and provided a good range of choices.

The only difficulty was Wifi connectivity in the room, which was temperamental and frustrating. Also, be careful when booking a room if stairs present a problem.

All in all, though, we had a brief but pleasant and comfortable stay.

Easy to find, very welcoming reception but the room was disappointing. Small, you almost fall over the end of the bed as you entered. No wardrobes just a bar hanging on the wall over the kettle. No a/c, O guess it would be really hot in Summer as a fan was supplied in the room. Very clean and everything works. Breakfast was served with a smile and the hot food was very good. Overall nothing exceptional , was it worth over 100 pounds a night - yes given the prices in Oxford.

Would really recommend this b&b. My husband and I had not booked anywhere to stay in Oxford and were happy to discover this place. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. The place itself was really tastefully done, the bedroom we stayed in was perfect for an overnight stay, comfortable bed and a clean and hot shower. Breakfast was nice with a varied selection of options. I would definitely come back, ideal place to explore Oxford, only a 20 minute walk and lots of buses if you are feeling lazy!!

I was attending a wedding at one of the colleges and needed a fairly central location . I liked the look of Parklands and booked just the one night . Arriving in the afternoon to check in after the ceremony but before the evening the check in process was easy , key code explained etc . The rooms are not spacious but are spotlessly clean . I am not a fan of wood chip paper but the colour scheme was neutral and all the accessories co ordinated . The fan was a nice touch . The bed was comfortable ( always a plus when away from home ) . After a good nights sleep it was down to breakfast . The dining room was bright and airy the selection of cereals etc was excellent . I don't eat big cooked breakfasts but my partner had the most amazing omlette , I had the continental option of a croissant which was brought to the table warm . All in all an enjoyable stay , would definetly stay again if in Oxford

Stayed at the Parklands for three nights (July 21-23). The location is terrific. Although it's on busy Banbury Rd., our room and the garden in the backyard were very quiet. A 10-minute walk north will take you to Summertown, where you can find grocery stores, Costa coffee, restaurants and the Dew Drop Inn pub (where we did drop in and enjoyed cold beer and tasty fish and chips). A 15-20 minute walk south will take you to Oxford city centre. Ample parking (at no extra charge) is located on-site at the Parklands , which was very convenient. If you need driving directions, ask for Rob, who was very helpful in guiding us to a few destinations, including the scenic drive all the way to Wales (thanks again, Rob...the drive was gorgeous). Our room was nice with a comfortable King bed; the bathroom was roomy and modern -- even with heated floors. The Parklands is a terrific B & B. We highly recommend it.

This was our second stay at the Parklands during the past 4 years. It's a very nice B&B north of the city and with a 15-20 minutes walk to the centre of Oxford. The B&B has nice and modern rooms with comfortable beds. The breakfast is excellent with full english brekfast included in the price. The B&B has a nice garden whre you can enjoy drinks ordered from the hotel bar. The B&B is situated in a very quite area. We will come back!
