This small hotel needs updating very much. Rooms very old fashioned - no clock - paper hankerchieves - something to read - nothing. There was a magazine in the room.......it was a year old!!
The prints on the wall must have come from a charity shop. The cups and saucers must be 50 years old. Needs some proper lighting in the Bedroom and the bathroom. (New light fittings for example!!)

The poached eggs were watery. The waitress was very sweet.
For your £120.00 (for two people for one night) you can do better elsewhere.

Room Tip: Don't take the ground floor room. That was the one the owner tried to palm us off with.

This is the most expensive b&b we've ever stayed in and we were expecting better. On the plus side is the parking space and being on a bus route into Oxford near to ring road and good restaurants. On the down side, the atmosphere was cold only being enlivened on our second morning by a friendly waitress. The room is adequate, the bed comfortable, and TV good, but the shower & bathroom poky. We expected more for our money and weren't unhappy to leave, which is a shame. Problem is it's an 8-room b&b which is almost a hotel and I think this place doesn't know which it should be.

Room Tip: Fronts on to main road so it's noisy with windows open - try to get a room at the side (we did a...

I rank this B&B as the one with the coldest atmosphere of the ten places at which I stayed during my visit in England. It wasn't that people were unfriendly exactly; it was just that they were rarely seen and, after a three night stay, I was none the wiser as to who owned this establishment. Upon my arrival a man quickly and efficiently showed me to my room, which was on the small side but adequate, clean and quiet. I liked that it contained a small refrigerator. The ensuite bathroom was tiny with a shower, no tub. Breakfasts were fine - served in a similarly efficient but aloof manner. Early one evening when I needed assistance with the television, it took repeated buzzer ringing to eventually roust out a body, although I could hear people talking behind the closed kitchen door. Quick service or slow, the resulting impression was that I, the paying customer, was an intrusion in their day. The location was handy to the Summertown shops; it was easy to drive from the B&B out to the Cotswolds or to find my way to central Oxford, but I would never stay at this B&B again.

The upside - nice area with good restaurants nearby, car park, good breakfast cooked to order. Close to Lady Margaret Hall.
However, does not justify 4 stars. No air con, tiny rooms, thin walls, very noisy all directions, bathroom needed updating, no shampoo or conditioner.

Bedroom has all the amenities and the breakfast was good with attentive service but the decor is from the 80's; everything is brown with fabric flowers.
Does the job but not a destination in its own right and therefore expensive.

I was accidentally booked into this hotel in March (instead of the Cotswold Lodge, closer to Oxford University.) Less a hotel and more a B&B, the home is quaint and the rooms are adequate.

Staff was really pleasant and friendly. And numerous, considering the small size of the place.

My bed wasn't the most comfortable in the world. The bathroom was a little small. Room spacious. But it promises to be a proper B&B and that it is--including the breakfast. Very much enjoyed the "Full Monty"--eggs, toast, jam, sausage, bacon, fried tomatoes, and mushrooms.

My biggest complaint about the hotel is its location--but that was my fault for the wrong booking. If you're planning on spending your time in Oxford's old city, near and about the University, you should probably look elsewhere. You can cab your way back and forth, as I did, or take a bus, which stops outside of the hotel. But it wasn't terribly convenient for me, as I was there on business.

Bottom line: Adequate English B&B. Friendly. Better breakfast than bed. Location a minus--if you'll be spending your days at or near the University.

Our first trip to UK and last b&b before flying home. Compared to other experiences this trip , overpriced for the one night stay with poor shower flow, heaters not working properly The upside is there is a car park out front of building and a good location. J & B
