Owner description: The Bodleian Library is a working library which forms part of the University of Oxford. It is housed in a remarkable group of buildings which forms the historic heart of the University, and you can explore the quadrangles of these magnificent structures at no charge. Different ticket options allow you to visit the interior of some of the buildings, such as the University’s oldest teaching and examination room, The Divinity School (built 1427-88). Here you will discover more of the University’s fascinating history. Our guided tours go behind the scenes in the Library, including its oldest research library, dating from 1602-20.

“Very interesting tour”

Best to take the extended Sunday tour so you get to see Duke Humphrey's Library from the inside as it is in use by students the rest of the week. Informative guide but earpieces wouldn't stay in place. Radcliffe Camera worth seeing from the inside as it's much better than from the outside. Small free exhibition off the main Bodleian quadrangle was worth seeing.

One of the oldest libraries in the world, very impressive and interesting to visit. Unfortunately, some areas it is not permitted to make photos

“Worth the tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

We took the tour and saw Duke Humphrey's library. The student who toured us gave us so much information about the history of the space and really made it come alive. A unique look at the University of Oxford- well worth the tour expense!

“A Book Lovers Dream”

We decided to take the mini tour of the library having just arrived from the U.S. earlier in the day. This tour included the Divinity School and Duke Humfrey's library. The tour guide was very good packing in a lot of information in a short time. There were a few Harry Potter fans on our tour because some scenes from the movies were filmed here. If you have limited time this is a good option but next time I would take a longer tour.

“Medical display.”

An interesting and easy to way to learn of the Oxford geniuses who helped medicine today. This includes cheap glasses, Oxford replacement knee, need to wear protective headwear thanks to Lawrence of Arabia, glucose test invented 1982 and penicillin to name but a few.
