Owner description: The Bodleian Library is a working library which forms part of the University of Oxford. It is housed in a remarkable group of buildings which forms the historic heart of the University, and you can explore the quadrangles of these magnificent structures at no charge. Different ticket options allow you to visit the interior of some of the buildings, such as the University’s oldest teaching and examination room, The Divinity School (built 1427-88). Here you will discover more of the University’s fascinating history. Our guided tours go behind the scenes in the Library, including its oldest research library, dating from 1602-20.

As a retired Librarian, I felt that I had finally come home. Obviously, many important people have used and have become inspired by what they have read in this amazing building.

I am not sure the number of visitors is helping those who are there for serious study.

I could spend weeks there but I am bias!

Arrived at the end of a very full day and should have made more time. Could only visit the main library with a guide and it was too late. However paid £1 to see the Divinity School and it was amazing. The ceiling is a work of art by itself. Harry Potter fans will be delighted to discover this building was used in a couple of films. Will certainly return and give this place the time it deserves. Looks fascinating.

Very interesting tour of the library. Steeped in history going back to 1016 or there abouts. Well looked after and cared for!

We had a guided tour of this library and the guide was wonderful. She really helped to paint a picture of what it originally looked like. It was a great tour and one of my favourite places I saw in Oxford.

If you go to the Bodleian you must take the guided tour. It's one hour and worth every penny. The guide tells great stories and gives you insight and knowledge you can't get from just looking. Also its the only way you can see the actual historic volumes on the upper floor.
