Checked it out while on business. Was average, nothing really amazing about it... liked some pieces, its a pretty small museum so don't put your expectations high... the best was the tour would highly recommend that to understand the cultural dimensions of the artifacts in place.

A lovely building with good trails for children to follow around and keep them interested. The basement cafe was disappointing though, more like a canteen in ambience with limited options of cake.

Not a huge museum, but very interesting. I particularly recommend the free tour at 11.00 - the one I went on was themed around the art collection, which isn't something I would have spent much time looking at if left to my own devices, but the guide really brought things to life and made some interesting points.

Until I visited the Ashmolean today I had no idea how significant and extensive it's collections were. This is a fascinating place with a very wide range of exhibits, well signposted and superbly displayed. Staff members were plentiful, knowledgeable and eager to assist. Toilet facilities were plentiful and clean. I was in a wheelchair and encountered no problems at all with access.
A wonderful experience not to be missed.
