Usually a good variety of exhibits here and some quality too.

It also has a very rare thing...... A gift shop you'll want to go to and spend some money!!

This museum is a modern, vibrant experience full of ancient artefacts and exhibitions, there are digital iPod type guides that you can wear to guide you around different areas and people you can ask about various exhibits.
The Egyptian exhibits are unmissable and you really needs a few hours here to appreciate all it has to offer, it's free too! Amazing .

We visited the Ashmoleon in Oxford and found the whole museum enchanting and enjoyable. The exhibits are well laid out, and we especially enjoyed the Egyptian element of the museum. We also enjoyed the themed elements in the basement - development of money, writing and counting. Obviously it gets a little noisy when school parties arrive, but I suppose that's to be expected. I would thoroughly recommend that anyone visiting Oxford should spend some time looking at the impressive collection that the Ashmoleon has.

We visited the Ashmolean to visit the Edward Lear exhibition. This was lovely a small exhibition but with wonderful drwings and illustrations some of flora a fauna and some landscapes. It gave a fascinating insight into a well loved but really quite lonely man.
The museum is a gem full of interesting exhibits. Since the renovation these are beautifully shown off. The building itself is worth the visit especially the atrium and staircase with it's wonderful sculptures.

The collection on exhibition is very impressive. Nicely designed halls. The Egypt and Nuba section is excellent with a lot of unique pieces that I cannot recall seeing anything similar in other museums.
