“What a lovely surprise!”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

Visiting the Christmas Market we stumbled across this transformed cafe. I remember it as the sort of place you just walk past. Not any more! It seems that it has been taken over by people who really like food - and it shows. We had coffee and cakes and they were delicious.

We will definitely come back and try breakfast (we saw other diners enjoying bacon, eggs, mushrooms etc and our mouths were watering), and lunch some time too.

“What a transformation....”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

I remember the St Giles Cafe when it was a greasy spoon...
To be honest I was never tempted to cross the threshold, but my wife did when an undergrad.
Today we spotted the notice board and peered inside and liked what we saw, so entered.
So glad we did.
We found tasty, good food, friendly service and interesting decor.
I had a very good coarse hamhock terrine followed by ham, egg, and bubble and squeak. My wife had leak and potato soup, then lamb in a broth, served with good bread.
The menu is short, but everything on it is well sourced and of a high quality.
Its an excellent place that deserves to do well.

“My new favourite place!”
Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

Perfect food for day times. They're open from dusk till dawn for carefully chosen quality ingredients turned into a simple selection of very tasty dishes. Charming service, good soundtrack & tables with spaces between them so not involved in other peoples conversations! A lovely find, will be back lots.

“And they serve Kedgeree!”
Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

One of my childhood favourites but seldom seen nowadays! Along with kippers on hotel breakfast menus! Saw the word kedgeree on their a board and just had to stop for lunch. Excellent dish served piping hot and my wife said her mushrooms on toast were just as good. Both were good portions and sensibly priced. Pleasant service too and an easy stroll from the centre if Oxford. Particularly convenient for the Natural History and Pitt Rivers Museums.
