As I had stayed here a year previously, I had some idea of the hotel already as I had enjoyed my last visit. It is clean and modern with plenty of seating areas to relax. I checked in quite late in the evening but was very impressed with my large room. It was clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. Tea and coffee etc was available in the room and a bottle of water. The only niggle I had was being woken up at 4am by the sounds of a laundry van loading up and slamming doors. Maybe I should have requested a quiet room. Apart from this inconvenience, which I mentioned at reception on checking out, everything else was great. The bed was very comfortable and huge. The breakfast was excellent in the dining room which seemed to have been refurbished since the last time I visited and was lovely and modern and fresh. There was a very good selection for breakfast with a range of cereals, juices yoghurts, cheese, cold meat, fruit, toast and full English breakfast made to order. The town is a good 20 minute walk along the river but the bus service runs very close by and it costs about £2 into Oxford single trip. Would stay here again as it is a pleasant hotel.

Overall this hotel is lovely. There are some niggles which could rectified such as in room 401 there is no full length mirror and the lighting in the bathroom is not great so hard to see to do make up! The bed was very soft, ok if you like soft beds. The biggest drawback was the very indifferent quality of the evening meals in the restaurant. However breakfasts were good. The staff were mostly really great, with just one exception. Would go back.

Room Tip: Room 401 is by the front door of Elm house and was a little noisy, but not unbearable.

Spent two nights in Oxford before exploring the Cotswolds and Lake District. The room was newly updated and had a nice size bath, comfortable beds with nice linens. It was a little too far for a walk into the Oxford main shopping/eating area, but very efficient, reasonalbe car service was arranged by the desk. The most memorable part of the stay was the staff. The ladies at the desk and the barkeep could not have been more pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was also very good.

My Wife and I had a 3 night stay commencing 24th September. On being allocated our room, we discovered this was in the Annexe about 200 yards away. Unfortunately we found the room quite dark and dingy although clean. I phoned reception, and was immediately allocated a room in the hotel itself. This was very nice, newly decorated and with a view overlooking the gardens. I cannot say the rest of the rooms in the Annexe were the same, maybe the others are OK.
The location was fine for us, as we could walk into Oxford along the river towpath. This took approx 40 minutes. We ate in one evening, and the food was fine, althought the breakfast room is used also for the restaurant, and lacks atmosphere. However, we found the staff very helpful and polite. We would stay again.

Room Tip: As mentioned in my review, try to make sure your room is in the main hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights very recently. Hotel is close enough to Oxford but with luxury of onsite parking. Comfortable rooms, with a good selection on tea tray & even robes in the bathroom. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection ranging from continental to cereals to full English. Did not eat in restaurant but selection looked good. Iffley is a lovely little village.

Room Tip: Make sure you get what you booked. Booked a superior room & when arrived realised we had been gi...

This is a fantastic hotel. Everything was as near to perfect as possible. Except...a wedding was taking place on our 2nd night (a Saturday) and, with a 400 mile drive the next day, this somewhat negated my early night as I was kept awake by the thumping beat of the disco which was a great shame. If only they'd said, and I could have requested a quiet room and been able to award them the 5 stars they really deserve!

Room Tip: Ask to be well away from the function room if you are staying at the weekend and want a decent night...

This is the second time I've stayed here, and this time I was disappointed. I was in the new block rather than the old main building, and the bedroom walls are extremely thin. The television in the next room must have been right above my head, and I could hear every word. I knocked a couple of times and eventually at midnight called reception. They rang the room and I could clearly hear the man next door saying it couldn't be his television keeping anyone awake, as it was on only one bar! Such a lot of money spent on very comfortable surroundings; what a shame they didn't invest a bit more in soundproof walls. However the area is very pleasant, with Iffley Lock and the Thames close by with some lovely walking.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main building have solid walls, and so are soundproof.
