Had an excellent stay at the Randolph. The staff are excellent, luxurious room, lovely food and a great location.

Our stay did not start to well the first room we were given was room 78 it smelt not sure what the smell was but it was very unpleasant and the sofa was broken, however a very efficient porter agreed that we could not stay in the room and arranged for a new room. Wow what a room, it was a suite with a very comfy enormous bed, a lounge area, bathroom and with a view of the Ashmolium museum.

We had dinner in the restaurant, limited menu but the food we had was excellent. Do have the full English breakfast it is very good.

All the staff were helpful polite and professional. I would recommend a stay there.

Room Tip: Do not accept room 78 it's dark a long way from reception and it smelt.

The exterior is desperately in need of repair but don't let appearances deceive you. "Inside" the hotel is well kept and elegant. The public rooms were quite cozy. Our room was large and well appointed (recent renovations were obvious and appreciated). Unfortunate, the air conditioner controls weren’t particularly effective. The restaurant is excellent. The location is perfect and would stay at the Randolph again!

The hotel is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. The location was in the middle of it all and couldn’t be any better. The room was very spacious but the bath, as in most of these old hotels is small. It did concern me that the hotel is a bit of a maze, we joked about coming back in the evening and trying to find our room. Being a very old hotel the floors creaked and getting out of the hotel in an emergency would be a challenge. The fire alarm went off while we were in the room so I called the front desk to see if it was a test. The person said wait a minute and came back and said “I think you are supposed to come to the front desk;” that didn’t give me a high level of confidence. The staff in the dining room was excellent. The lady that ran the breakfast meal and the gentleman that ran the evening meal were the best. The food was some of the best that we had in Great Britton.

This is the perfect hotel for a stay in Oxford. It is located in the center of Oxford close to all attractions, whether they be University oriented or sightseeing. The facility built in 1864 but upgraded and totally modern but with a genteel flavor makes one feel very important. But the staff is not stuffy and is totally friendly and helpful. If one is a Morse fan, you are in the center of his or Lewis' world. In fact, the bar is the Morse Bar with photographs of the stars of the series and a painting of the creator, Colin Dexter. I would definitely return to this hotel if I have another opportunity to visit Oxford.

What a pleasure to be able to write a review for this hotel. The property itself is beautiful. It's old and charming but not not tired. The room was spacious, well-appointed, clean and comfortable. It felt quite homey and everything worked perfectly. The location was great; getting around Oxford was extremely convenient and I was able to walk almost everywhere from the hotel.

But the best part about this hotel is the staff. They were fantastic. Everyone was extremely courteous and hospitable. Each person made a point of addressing me by name every time as a mark of respect. Whenever I needed something someone was there. The staff have pride in this establishment and it shows.

The concierge desk is a particular highlight. Frank (a young man who I expect will go far) and his colleagues were superb. Everytime I struggled with too much to carry outside of the hotel, someone appeared to make my load a bit easier. If anticipation is the basis of good service then the training programs at The Randolph are clearly working. At one point I overheard a couple of the staff at the concierge desk speaking to each other, and they are just as courteous and respectful with each other as they are with the guests.

Oxford has plenty of attractive features to draw one back for repeat visits. The Randolph is one of them.

This hotel is centrally located and has a great ambiance. It is an older building so the rooms are not large by modern standards and there can be some noise transmission from the corridor. The staff are professional and helpful. We had dinner on our second night and were very impressed with the range and quality on offer. It was one of the best meals we have had. Top marks.
