Great location, great building, good food, good service. On the other hand, strong, persistent musty smell in room, and lack of attention by housekeeping ( eg jug of milk, dirty glasses not cleared away despite us being away from our room for eight hours).

came here last october and will never regret it me, my wife and my 9 year old daughter came here to go to a cathy cassidy book signing (my daughter is a huge fan) and stayed in the randolph we were greeted with a friendly welcome smiling staff and a quick check in- which was just what we needed after the 1 and a half hour drive from our house in Knaphill in Surrey to Oxford.

the hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of oxford it is very clean and the food is delicious
luckily the rooms are very clean as my daughter got quite sick during our stay and we were able to stay in the room all day.

next time im in oxford i will most definetly stay here

Room Tip: dont get one near convention rooms as they may be noisy

This hotel had lovely reception staff and friendly valets. However, only stay here if you want the feel of being in an oxford college - mustiness and all to boot. Plus point the hotel accepts dogs. However, the Morse bar is a little "cheesy" and the whole hotel looks like it needs a bit of refreshing. The room was rather small for the cost, the bathroom dated, the bath tiny and the view we had was terrible - brick walls... Great the little box of chocolate, but not enough to compensate for the overall fustiness.

I went in here for coffee as I had always been interested as Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh stayed here and of course my love of Morse and Lewis. The door staff were very nice. I asked for a flat white at the bar. What is that? was the reply. I settled for an americano. Waiter was very courteous and I recieved 2 "free" delicious bits of shortbread. It was £4.95. What? For a cup of coffee?. Anyway, I thought it was nice but rather fuddy duddy and had the atmosphere of what I imagine a gentlemans club would be like.Still glad I went in though.

First time to stay in this chain of hotels and I'm more than impressed. Beautiful Old hotel (everything in Oxford is old). Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, food is over average (most of the time) and location is superb.

Rooms are relatively small but are really clean with old nice furniture. One annoying thing is the sound of the wood floor while walking in the room.

I definitely recommend this hotel for business or pleasure trips.

The stay was great however being woken up by house keeping coming into our room before 8am to clean our room when we were checking out that day! Was not very professional and they should of waited until we had checked out or at least at a reasonable time not at 7.30am when we're fast asleep, it ruined the stay for us as we couldnt settle again and we felt like they wanted us to leave asap

I studied at Oxford University many years ago and used to marvel at the smartness of this hotel. Now I am older (not as old as the hotel), I thought it would be ideal for a weekend trip. Overall, a very good experience.

Pros:
Old school, grown up glamour
Excellent location in the heart of everything and great for travel connections and good walking around one of the most attractive cities in UK
Kind and well trained staff that take pride in their work
A very "old Oxford" bar that served us champagne at midnight (and kept the bottle for breakfast)
A lovely parlor for afternoon tea
Good and helpful concierge even when busy

Cons
Amazingly Creaky floors in bedrooms. Just breathing makes them creak let alone trying to do your morning yoga.
Beds are very, very soft; would benefit from some refit.
Overall, a quite expensive deal
Lifts are small and slow. Fine if you like running up and down staircases; less so if old or tired or in heels.

Room Tip: Reserve a table for two in The Parlour for afternoon tea (or a glass of champagne) by the window and...
