A lovely quaint hotel, which retains its Edwardian character but successfully combines modern features to provide excellent accommodation and a very pleasant stay. The hotel is also located in a quiet street with ample car parking and easy access to the town centre. Our room had a lovely view across the garden and was pleasantly decorated in light neutral colours, spacious, nicely furnished and had a modern flat screen TV. The double bed was really comfortable and the bed linen and towels snowy white and good quality. Cleanliness was excellent. There was no air conditioning but an electric fan was provided and also there was a very handy iron and ironing board in the Wardrobe. We had an evening meal in The Spires Restaurant. We chose the hot buffet menu, which was adequate. Lovely homemade soup followed by Chilly con Carnie and Eaton Mess for dessert. Breakfast was good. We chose the full English, which was served buffet style in the Spires Restaurant.
All of the staff without exception were excellent in their approach to customer service. We will definitely use this hotel again for future stays.

The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre of town. Buses go by the end of the road. The hotel is on a quiet enough street.

Our first room was large and in great condition. However it was directly above the laundry. it was incredibly hot when we returned and the smell of drying clothes filled the room.
We spoke to the front desk the next morning who moved us to another room and gave us a free dinner. Can't fault the staff, but I'd avoid this particular room (103).
Our new room was very small, but clean and smell free.
Walls and doors are very thin, you can hear pretty much everything from the rooms around you.

We ate lunch in the bar, again staff excellent but food was average at best. Breakfast was decent but average.

Cherwell boathouse is 10 minutes walk. If it's a nice day go punting. If not just have lunch and enjoy the view. On good days book the restaurant ahead of time.

Overall this is an average hotel in an expensive area. Most things are done as minimally as possible, don't except anything more and you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Avoid room 103, directly above the laundry. It gets incredibly hot and smelly at night.

Stayed at this hotel for 9 days during August. It has some pros and some cons. Air-conditioning during summer is a must and this hotel has none. The shower pressure in my room was appalling and as I was playing hockey, I needed to shower at least twice a day. The initial room I was given was unacceptable and I was moved. The large bed was well received and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent given that the hotel was full. The Wi-Fi was very useful and free. The hotel was situated half way between the hockey fields and the city and both were an easy walk. All in all, a pleasant stay in an interesting city.

Room Tip: Try and get a room looking onto the garden.

Honestly this is the only hotel I stayed during a conference at Oxford, but as far as I heard the prices are quite high in the this city, and this one is in the walking distance to the main campus. So I can say without reservation this is an establishment without any surprise - you get what you pay. Clean comfy but small rooms, extremely bland but fulfilling breakfast, and semi-pro management. I will return here if need be for a headache free stay.

My husband wanted to do a 'Morse Tour' in Oxford, so booked one night for the pair of us in the Linton Lodge Hotel. Check in said 3pm, but we arrived at 1.30 and were able to check in straight away. Reception staff were very pleasant, and helpful.

We didn't want to take the car into the city centre, so were able to leave it in the hotel car park around the back, and walk back to Banbury Road, to catch a bus instead (although it transpired that it wasn't too far to walk). There were leaflets in the Foyer including a small map of the area.

The room was large with a bay window (although there was no view) but it was all very clean, and the bed was comfortable. There was a small coffee table with two comfy armchairs. Huge wardrobe, housing an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, and a fan to cool the room down if necessary (a lifesaver, as this was the hottest weekend this year at 32 degrees!!). Cable TV; clock radio. Telephone. Bath with shower attachment, and shower/shampoo supplied. The general look of the room was classic with dark reds and creams.

There was no air-conditioning and no minibar in our room (119).

We came back to the hotel for our evening meal, as Oxford was heaving with graduates and their families, so limited options for an evening meal. There was A La Carte or there was a carvery. We are vegetarian, so chose two different veggie options which were tasty. Anthony and Juan were very attentive and friendly.

During the evening, there was quite a bit of noise from the garden, with what sounded like a school trip enjoying playing out there - not sure if they were from the hotel, or not, but they went indoors by about 9.30pm. The large church across the road didn't chime all night, either, which was good!

We didn't go in the garden, but it looked like it was quite big and had picnic tables out there. Our room was to the side of the hotel, so looked over another building, so we couldn't see exactly what was in the garden.

There was a lounge area next to reception that had newspapers and seating, so I sat there for a while reading a paper on Sunday morning without interruption.

We both slept well, and the next morning, we ate breakfast in the restaurant. There was a buffet for a full English; then there was ham and cheese to have with bread rolls; and then the usual continental type with cereals, yoghurt, fruits, croissants, bread rolls, and a toaster for toast and preserves.

Again, very attentive staff, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble (I can't remember any names, but two waitresses were particularly friendly and helpful). Check out was 11am, but we checked out earlier as had more exploring of Oxford to do.

All in all a very nicely run hotel, and with an 'American' style customer service.
