Great atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices, good pub food. Seems to specialise in crickes on the televisions, but they are not obtrusive! Can't fault it

Thank Chris M

We stopped off here for a little lunch. The first thing that put me off were the toilets. They smelt, or damp and needed updating and a cleaning.

Dispite this we ordered lunch. This came quickly.. To quickly, we realised that it had been cooked previously and was waiting to be served.

This is a great building inside, and could be so much more. Shame really.

For anyone...tourist or resident, who wants a real pub experience...forget Irish theme pubs and Widdlespoons and anything with Newt in its name..take yourself without ado to the White Horse.
Good plain food, good beer ( try the " Oxford Gold " ) and very good service.

The White Horse is a lovely, traditionally English pub, tucked underneath the legendary Blackwell's Bookshop. It's absolutely tiny, but this just makes it cosy and unique. We had roasts there which were very generous in portion size and tasted really great. Don't go expecting haute cuisine - just classic British pub food, exactly the way you'd want it.

If you go to Oxford this is the pub you should not miss! Right in the centre you get friendly service and good beer. We called at 8-45 and they were still serving food with a smile. We had Game Pie which was delicious as was the great range of real ales. No wonder Morse et al was in here all the time! Spot on!!
