“great food, good value”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

We found this place after wondering around and only finding pubs and fish and chips (which we were not in the mood for). This place is tucked away up a flight of stairs, you get to the top and are greeted by staff, and a comfortable sized dining room with a large window looking down on the main street. The food was great, and at the small price you pay you get heaps on your plate. The staff were friendly and on to it. I would recommend this place if you are after a tasty dish, a cold beer and a moment to yourself to just sit back, relax and watch the busy world go by out the window.

“If we lived here, I'm not sure we'd eat anywhere else.”
Reviewed September 10, 2011

While in Oxford for the night, not really sure what was good and what wasn't, we nearly dismissed At Thai, due to the rather unpromising exterior; it's above a shop with a neon sign in the window, accessed, as others have said, up a rather dingy staircase. But our fears were allayed as soon as we entered the pleasant, well designed dining room. Staff are efficient and sweet, and the food is phenomenal. We nibbled on some crisp, meat-and-shrimp filled golden parcels to start, before moving onto mains of prawns in tamarind sauce and pad thai noodles. The prawns were fresh and sweet, perfectly complimented by the sourness of the tamarind. The pad thai was classic and delicious. On the side a fresh papaya salad provided a light, fresh accompaniment. We didn't try dessert - if we had, might actually have popped. I think if we lived here, we might never go anywhere else.

“So so Thai meal”
Reviewed August 29, 2011

We shared green chicken curry, basil duck and rice. The curry was OK; I have had better. The duck was overcooked and we could not taste the basil. It had a strange smell.

“Hidden gem - fantastic and reasonably priced Thai food”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

I am an American living in Oxford with my husband the past 4+ years, and this place has become one of our solid favorites. We are both foodies and stumbled across this place by accident and have been loyal ever since. The place is easy to miss as it's up some (not-very-great looking) stairs off the High Street, and it's overshadowed by famous Thai next door, Chang Mai. We actually went to AT Thai because we craved Thai one night and Chang Mai was booked (it's very popular and you need reservations), and we found the atmosphere once you get to the top of the stairs at AT Thai to be surprisingly charming. It's nice enough that we've since brought out of town guests and colleagues, as well as many friends. The prices are lower than at Chang Mai and the food is FANTASTIC. We have some favorite dishes now - they have a tamarind shrimp dish which is out of this world, and a lamb peanut curry which we end up getting every time we go. Every time we visit this place, I am impressed anew with the food. I think it's location up the stairs makes it less well known than Chang Mai, which is a shame. It's really excellent, you can always get a table, they do take away and delivery, and those who know it love it. If you crave real Thai food in Oxford, this is your spot. I grew up with amazing Thai and am hard to please - I have found my favorite in AT Thai.
