We were visiting Oxford university in June 2012 and decided to stop here for some good food - I have friends that hype up the Prezzo in Plymouth and so we decided to give it a shot.
It was incredibly quiet and when we walked in there were no staff at all, eventually one came out and was incredibly aloof; it felt very awkward.
I ordered the lasagne - ok, nothing special - and my mother ordered some kind of creamy pasta dish with bacon. It became obvious that these dishes had been made earlier and merely microwaved back to piping hot. How did we know this? My mother's dish was delivered to the table lumpy and congealed: it had curdled.
We finished our drinks but again the waiter was nowhere to be seen to request another or even offer another as expected.
It was our intention to stay for dessert too but due to the terrible service and the poor quality of food, we paid and went to Krispy Kreme (directly opposite) for a doughnut instead. Over half of both dishes were left untouched.
Had the waiter been present at all during our meal, we likely would have complained.
Horrible experience that has put me off ever returning to Prezzo - Oxford or otherwise.
