This was our first time on a narrow boat, from the start we received a warm welcome from the owner of Gema and after tuition through a lock we were off on our way!.
Gema is a beautiful boat, very well equipped and cosy. We chose to take the route to Henley On Thames, the scenery is beautiful, lots of wildlife and we found plenty of places to moor up. We particularly liked Sonning where you can take a short walk to The Bull Inn, had a very nice dinner here to celebrate my birthday.
Would definitely like to book this again :-)
Impressed with the boat! Could do with some storage space for big bags though! We were 4 people staying on and 8 sleeper and would have been ridiculously cramped if there were even 6 of us! But an awesome experience and a lovely way to experience the English Countryside.
We really enjoy our week in the narrow boat Gema. It is perfect for 2 families even if the salon extra bed is not very confortable. It was our first time in England and we were glad to rent a typical narrow boat. It is well equipped and big enough for 7 people. The nature around is amazing and despite of the rain we loved our journey on the Thames.
Great weekend cruising down the Thames through Henley and Marlow. Peacefully taking in the sights, at a pace unfamiliar on the outskirts of London.
Dodging professional rowers, paddlers, and audiences at locks were all taken in our stride. Thanks to the tips from Jane our navigation was stress free and enjoyable.
Gemma was a joy to pilot up the wide reaches of the Thames and surprisingly agile. The hand back to your colleague Sam was very quick and it was good to be getting on our way.
Thanks again for the hire of Gema which was well equipped, tidy and reliable narrow boat.
We had an excellent midweek break on the Thames aboard the Gema. Despite her 69' length, we found her manageable to handle and had no issues, thanks to the excellent introductory training from Jane. The cabins are well appointed - two bathrooms were a treat, and the beds are remarkably comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked, and we never missed any of the comforts of home aboard.
My only disappointment was finding out that the boat is not licensed for C&RT canals, as our plan had been to sail up the Kennet & Avon. I don't fault Jane at all for this, as we booked through a third party (Waterways Holidays) that advertised the boat when one searched for the K&A Canal. Probably best to book with MyRiverCruising directly in hindsight.
