“Lovely one night break”
Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

We had a great time on at HdV in their Autumn rate. The room was great. Food was good, staff were really friendly and accommodating ( we wanted to check out slightly late and they were fine ) and we had a really great break. I would suggest you let them valet park for you as it was so much less hassle than having to find your own parking. Henley was a beautiful town, v picturesque. I would definitely go back.

The hotel is a converted old brewery which is a trait of the Hdv chain as it generally occupies buildings which have been something else - the outcome is a hotel with real character and this is no exception. The rooms are very comfortable with very good beds and bathroom facilities. Be careful who you share with as many have stand alone baths in the room and very visible showers - perfect if you want a sexy romantic getaway. As per normal the staff are very good with special mention for Nancy and Matilda who were very helpful with an urgent issue we had to deal with during our 1 night stay. However, the service in the Restuarant could have been better as two orders one at dinner and breakfast were incorrect and needed rectification including a bill adjustment at dinner. In addition, on arrival for dinner there was no log of our evening booking which was made at reception earlier !! The river is but a stones throw away as is the town - two feet suffice. It is always good to have free Wi Fi in the rooms and very good tea and coffee making facilities (including snacks).

A late review - I stayed here in June but have only just got around to adding my review.

My boyfriend booked us in for one night. We stayed in one of the suites and I cannot fault it for comfort. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom was well stocked with all manner of toiletries (as always with Hotel du Vin!), the staff were polite, efficient and very accomodating. Food was pretty good, usual HdV standard although we did have a slight problem with the Pouilly-Fume we ordered not being correctly chilled (which made us smile given that we were in Hotel du Vin!) but was rectified promptly when it was pointed out to our waiter.

Wonderful location. The only drawback to staying at this hotel - very limited parking.

Another excellent Hotel du Vin experience.

The hotel is beautiful with lovelu rooms and friendly staff. We will definitely return.
However, will not be eating here next time. We dined here and found the service terrible. We sat for an hour before someone took our order. The food was ok but over priced for what it was, £26 for a tiny serlion steak is ott in my opinion.

We are HdV converts and enjoy their offerings, had a very good overnight stay but the service in the restaurant evening of Sunday 28 Oct was a bit haphazard and rather unexpected. Long waits, bread didn't turn up, had to ask for service etc, so a bit disappointing. However the fairly new menu is good with plenty of good dishes to choose from. Surprised the degustation menu was advertised on the website but apparently not available here nor the prix fixe menu - absence appeared to be blamed on busyness. Careful HdV - excuses of busyness so often leads to lack of business! We guess inertia will allow the odd experience lower than expectation. Henley did not match up to many Cheltenham or Bristol experiences on this occasion.

in a converted brewery with excellent bedroom quality and facilities. Reception staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Bistro style restaurant provided just ok food in a noisy environment. Not a cheap weekend away costing us a basic £440 for dinner, bed and breakfast plus extras.

We stayed on an offer which meant if we spent £75 in the hotel bistro on the Sunday evening we stopped at the hotel,we got the large standard double room for £20. We arrived early but the hotel allocated us a room straight away. The car park is tiny but on Sundays, you can park on the road for free so we didn't take up the valet parking offered for £15.The room was great,I loved the attention to detail, the coffee machine, the magazine selection and the toiletries,Miller and Harris were lovely. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows were very soft. There were stairs up to the bathroom, which were very creaky but the bathroom was fabulous!! Really lovely. we had our meal in the bistro, smoked salmon, chateauxbrean and creme brulee. The service was very good and the food quality was great. Also a good bottle of wine. The only down side was that the weekend we were there,Henley was quiet ,alot of the shops and bars were shut.So for a night in a four star hotel with eveing meal for two came in at around £150,really good value and a very enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: A standard room on the offer is £10 but we paid £20 and were really happy with the room,it was very...
