A very welcome and adventurous change from the average coffee shop, fairly expensive but no more than you'd expect for an establishment with an uninterupted river view and quality menu.
I chose an ameretto white hot chocolote which had an exquisette flavour but was also incredibly sweet.
I asked the owner whether it was possible to modify the amount of sugar in it and she explained there wasn't any extra sugar in any of their hot chocolates apart from the one with nougat.
White chocolate is sweeter than milk or dark so if, like me, you don't have a particularly sweet tooth it may be an idea to get some advice from the staff first.

Hot chocolate, yummy. I turn into a flippin cartoon' character when get a mug of that elixier. Slurping and and grinning and just wallowing in the sheer indulgence. And for the real afficionado's, (my wife) there's the chilli hot chocolate. Hot in more ways than one.

I'm sorry to say I've never ventured much further than a hot drink, but the cakes and hot food look equally delicious.

The location is wonderful. With all the rain we've had there's no boats but you can sit at the window and watch all kinds of assorted flotsam chasing down the river. Ducks, trees, bits of Oxford university.....

The decor is the only thing that lets it down. It's a bit tasteless but it's clean and the staff are so welcoming and helpful. It's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

We had booked for a cream tea so were not put off by a relatively plain exterior. We were met by super staff, shown to a reseved table, the menu was clearly explained and the order was taken as soon as we were ready. The chamolagne, sandwiches scones, jam, cream and tea were all of excellent quality. The staff were bright, cheery and very professional. Inside this cafe it is a class act. From the outside appearance you might not be drawn in. Don't be put off, it is a gem and a class act so go in and give it a try, you will not be disappoointed.

Went to the Chocolate Theatre Cafe for lunch with some work colleagues. I had a sandwich, a hot chocolate and a slice of cake and it came to over £10, which felt like quite a lot for a workday. That said, if you're a fan of hot chocolate there is really nowhere else to go - they have a completely separate menu with more than a dozen different versions, and the white peppermint chocolate was just wonderful. I also saw a cream tea plate go by - for a special occasion it would be a lovely place to go and has great views of the river. Maybe I'll bring my mum back for mother's day!

Have been here many times since having my baby. They can't make you more welcome - even with all the buggies :-) Great food and you can even take it away. Make sure you visit.
