Description: The Little Angel is all things to all people. It is a historic, perfectly placed pub and eating house at the foot of Remenham Lane, just before you go over Henley bridge into Henley on Thames. With a large car park, a reputation for great service, food and ambience, this pub is the busiest in the area and deservedly is on most itineraries of anyone visiting Henley on Thames. From the outside, it looks a quaint little pub but enter its hallowed doorway and you will find the most unique, beautifully designed space, with space being a key word. They can seat over 100 without a problem and can hold private functions for over 350 standing. Weddings, corporate functions, you name it, they can do it. They have a superb, professional and friendly team that can assist with most requests. Food is seasonal, fresh, cooked to order and with quarterly changing A la Carte and daily delicious specials, this pub is patronised all year round for lunch, dinner, drinks at their large and buzzy bar or when weather shows some joy, in their large, patioed garden that looks onto the quintessential Henley Cricket Club playing grounds. Jugs of Pimms, Pitchers of beer sit comfortably alongside ice buckets full of champagne and provence rose. If you haven't been to Henley or to The Little Angel, it is well worth a visit. The historic River Thames is just 100 yards away. Walk to it, from it or drive, as you wish but do GO!

“Thoroughly enjoyable meal”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

We dined here with other members of our family for Sunday lunch. We were seated in the main part of the pub on a long table. The staff were very attentive and provided a good service throughout our lengthy stay. The menu whilst not being comprehensive provided enough choice for our needs. There was also a nice selection on the specials board.
The majority of us went for the specials and had the Cauliflower soup for starters followed by the roast lamb. The soup was very nice, with a lovely wedge of brown bread to accompany it. The lamb was well presented with roast potatoes, a variety of veg, lamb stuffing and ample meat. Again, it was very nice even if I would have preferred my meat cut to be a bit thicker.
We concluded the meal with a rather sparse and unexciting cheese board, so as Meatloaf would have said "Two out of three ain't bad". All this was washed down with a bottle or three of a very nice Chilean Merlot.
In conclusion, we spent a very enjoyable 4 hours in the company of the Little Angel. The majority of staff were good and it is always nice to have a bit of banter. When next in the area will certainly call in again.

Popped in here late Sunday afternoon and was greeted with a very friendly reception . 6 of us ate - we ordered 2 sausage and mash 2 fish pie and 2 burgers . Everyone cleared their plates and said how lovely the food was . Would definitely go again

“Pretentious and tiny portions”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

Went here for lunch andordered lite bites assuming would be smallish lunch. lived up to the name. the portions were miniscule! Service was poor, the snotty and apathetic waitress dropping most of one meal on the table, and leaving without apology. Bread not offered, so requested. This took so long we presumed it had been milled and baked in situ. The small slice cut in half kept up the poor standard, as did the half frozen butter which had to be requested, all served with corpse like. Manager? later seemef offended when fishing for compliments told portions were on the small side. Recommend if you enjoy poor service, arrogant staff, and miserly portions. Avoid.

Best part was the service. Food routine and dull. No crab in the crab cake but starters were quite good.

“Good service , every dish smothered in cream”
Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

The Little Angel is a pub with a French chef , when I went a couple of weeks ago I thought this pub would offer me a nice lunch . However , never judge a book by its cover . The menu was a normal modern day classic pub menu with every single dish smothered in cream . The burger ( mayonnaise sauce ) , salmon ( cream ) etc. It was just a mediocre experience . The only reason why I rated this pub two stars is because of the ever so friendly service .

We don't generally respond to Trip Advisor as it is true, contributors have every right to air their views and it helps us to hopefully improve our service going forward. There are occasions when it is required to respond and I should like to do so in this instance. I would first like to apologise to you the customer for your bad experience with us recently. We never wish for this and I am sorry it was a negative experience for you. I do hope that will not deter you from coming back although I fear by your words it might. Please contact us and we would be delighted to speak with you in person to see how we can entice you back. Just to say, we do not and never had a French chef (although we would have nothing against one if the current chef departed). We have had the same chef for over 4 years now and he is very British. Our menu contains just one item on the starters with some cream, which is the Smoked salmon with chive cream sauce. The burger has no cream at all and it is simply melted Applewood Smoked cheddar. Our burgers we are proudly very well known for. The only other items on the menu with cream are a touch in the mashed potato and then only in desserts, Crème brulee and some in the Rice Pudding. I have scanned our menu to see where there is more cream sauce and there simply isn't any, so I remain baffled by the headline. I just don't want any other potential customers reading this review thinking we smother our food in cream when we absolutely do not. Having said all the above, every review makes us sit up and listen, so all comments have digested. I do hope we will see you again in Henley some time soon, whether with us or not.
