“Drink, don't eat.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

If you are out on a walk or out for a few beers then this is a fab country pub full of old world charm.
The beer is top notch.
Oped fires, Taxidermist heaven !
But I would not venture past the crisps nuts or pork scratchings.
Enjoy it for what it is and you can't go wrong.
Eat off the menu if you want old world stodge and and old fashioned indigestion.

“Poor, why does such a good location have such dire food?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

Been here several times, it's great for stopping at on a river walk, but oh boy the food is terrible.

I'd suggest going in the summer when they have the BBQ on, that way you can't go too far wrong, otherwise avoid the food.

Last time I had a sandwich and even that wasn't great.

The beer's good though, so you can't have everything!

“Charming little restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2012

Delightfully old-fashioned Victorian-style pub with quirky decor (check out all the stuffed fish!) and an enormous log fire. Interesting items on the menu (I had pheasant) with fresh seasonal vegetables and large portions. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

“Welcome Sight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

Always a welcome sight after walking across muddy fields from Henley-on-Thames. Warm and welcoming, with open fires, and olde worlde decor full of interest (hunting, shooting fishing). There is a smart restaurant area, and a snug public bar. Real ale and real food. I strongly recommend the liver and bacon. In the summer, when it is very popular indeed, there is extensive outdoor seating, and often a barbecue.

“Do not eat here!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

After a beautiful walk with friends we decided to stop and have lunch at The Flower Pot.... big mistake! The food was some of the worst food i have ever had to sit and eat. I ordered the fish pie. It was dry and I'm not even sure it was made of fish. My partners meal was the same. The portion size was stupidly small although we were half grateful as it meant there was less of it to eat. After leaving the pub my partner felt more and more ill. The next day was spent suffering from indigestion. If we hadn't of been sat with a new group of friends that lunchtime then we would have sent the food back to the kitchen and gone somewhere else. They make you pay for your meal before you eat it, so I'm sure you would have trouble getting your money back.
