“Awful room”

Room 9 - Avoid!

Room is positioned next to the cistern for all the hot water for the hotel, so all you can hear at night is running water.

Beds feel like they are filled with car springs and dig into your back.

All power is switched off at source when you enter the room, so you have to spend a while finding all the sockets

Oh ...and a unique approach when you check in, a TV remote is issued with your key!?

Room Tip: Avoid room 9

My wife tells me she has read bad reviews. Personally It was good. Incredibly pretty place. Not expensive, rooms pleasant. Bed - have to say a bit lumpy. Breakfast fantastic. The staff where very pleasent and helpful, apart from my bed comment I don't know what was bad.

just got back, took mum for a break. parking absolute nightmare had to park in a car park across the road. beds hard, gave mum a bad back. breakfast nice when eventually got toast that took about 10 minutes in the two toasters that took forever, patio at the back lovely, i had a cig up there but others would use the lower patio and smell was awful when up in bedroom as they were directly underneath, dont go by the nice pics of pool, was basic but looks glam on pics, still enjoyed swim, one changing room, not one of the staff were english and found hard to communicate, cleaners wonderful and the hardest working, receptionist, one in particular above herself, all in all not a bad stay but chipping norton doesnt offer much but ok as a base to visit other places. forgot to mention the constant noise of a fan or system under window, on and off all night, does not have blackout curtains in twin room.

Room Tip: dont stay in rooms 15 or 16, a/c all night, tv in corner of wall, stiff neck watching it, no plug fo...

We have stayed at many holes over the last year and this has to be the very best.
Good position for touring Oxford area.with free on site parking.
All staff were very well trained and extremely polite and helpful, they aimed to please and they sure did that.
The food was of the very best standard and served to perfection. We have tried Michelin restaurants and this is up there in the same category. At only a fraction of the cost.
It has taken us 35 years of anniversaries to find a hotel which ticked ALL the boxes.
From Kent to Stirlingshire this is a must for all travellers.

Room Tip: All rooms are very clean and well appointed

We stayed here for one night. The hotel looks lovely from the outside but the inside is quite dated and I would say a typical 3 star establishment which requires some modernisation. Breakfast was pretty rubbish and my husband was really upset at the lack of pastries, which were stated as being available on the hotel info. He loves pastries.

Very good customer service, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a little hap hazard - first day English Breakfast was cooked to order and waited ages as ours was given to another table by accident. The following morning it was busier with a buffet style English Breakfast and help yourself, several things missing had to ask for the bread and yoghurts to be refilled but they were very busy. Several young waiters doing their best but nobody seemed to be 'in charge'. Rooms were clean but our single beds were hard, squeaky and the pillows really hard too. Power shower was great but no disposable shower caps like you normally find in hotels, never thought to bring my own! Building is very old and quaint, complete with sloping, squeaky floorboards. Lovely terrace for drinks in warm weather, staff were polite and helpful. If I was visiting friends in the area again I would use the hotel no problem.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room because the front is on the main road, so not only disturbed by traffic but peo...

We got a really cheap deal and I can see why. The room and corridors smelt musty. Our bedroom was dated and there was no shower in the bathroom. However, the service was good and the receptionist was very helpful with several requests that we had.
