We called at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, and we were still able to get a meal from the lunch menu. The menu for main meals is fairly small but the food was excellent - well presented & delicious. The puddings were good too.
The inn is old with lots of scruffy ambience & seems to have a local clientele.
The owner (or manager) who was watching Wimbledon on TV was not overly pleasant (ignored us & wasn't very obliging to guests that were staying - it has en-suite rooms for hire), but the exceptionally friendly lady behind the bar, more than made up for his attitude.
We pass by fairly regularly, but have never stopped before, but that will be remedied from now on.
Don't be put off by the scruffy board signs outside, it is definitely worth a try!
