Excellent hotel with all facilities
Excellent food and service
Good value for money
Need to book early as rooms taken very quickly
Hotel is clean ,only issue is parking on site as it is limited
Enjoy as ideally located in the heart of the Cotswold with many excellent villages within 20-30 minutes drive

Room Tip: Go for the four poster

We were very much impressed by the loveliness of this town, its a very well maintained traditional Cotswold village. We arrived at the hotel very late ( having notified hotel) staff friendliness was my first impression. The room was out in the courtyard, hanging flower baskets everywhere. Breakfast was good too.
WiFi a bit slow & only in some places, I think they need to get a stronger boost connection.
Will return there gladly.

Two night stay in this interesting old inn which is being comprehensively refurbished(not quite completed). Small but pretty bedroom, very warm due to Britain having sunny weather for a change.
Have often driven through Burford but never stayed. Very limited parking on site but can park on road outside quite easily, although it might be busier in school holidays.
Good interesting breakfasts. Had two pub dinners, pizzas particularly good.
Lovely choice of individual shops to visit in Burford, sweet shop with home made chocs, quirky bookshop/hat shop combo, great deli, wonderful baker/tea shop, great pubs with food.
If visiting area, visit Burford Garden Centre, plants, great food, home wares, antiques, wonderful children's area, with free mini cinema and toy shop, also outdoor play area, plus lots of other 'I want one of those!' areas.

Beautiful location, as you walk up the hill towards Oxford, have a look down the main street (High Street) for a great postcard view. For a foreign tourist, the architecture of the houses is amazing.
We had a cozy, very quiet room with a double bed, nicely decorated. The bathroom was next door in the corridor but this was not a problem for us (it's the same at home), besides, it was spotlessly clean and the shower was excellent.
Very good breakfast in the typical pub dining room.
Great location with easy parking.
One observation about the bed, not only here but in the 4 places we slept at: the duvet was far too thick for August so I had to either sleep under the bed cover or remove the duvet and just use the cover as a sheet. I know England can be cold in summer as well and that the weather can change quickly, but I found all 4 duvets too warm and thick, and was never able to use them.
I think there should be a clearer written explanation about how to register to use the wi-fi (_The Cloud).

Room Tip: My room was at the back but was pleasant all the same and enough for one night. I've read that t...

It's pleasant pub hotel which probaby tries to be too much of everything. Great location in the middle of Burford, a Cotswold tourist hotspot. We had a light lunch and cooked breakfast - both were good - as was the service. The downside of my room was the shower fittings - old and didn't work. Also the free wi-fi provided something called The Cloud - too complicated - didn't get on-line - really should sort out a simpler better quality solution. Good value - book direct - would go back.

The Golden Pheasant inn has potential to be a lovely B&B. It has a prime position in the heart of Burford, slap bang in the middle of the high street. There is a small car park at the rear of the inn and lots of on street parking if the car park is full. The food was very good and the breakfast especially was excellent. However, I feel that by making a few small changes this could become a great B&B which would attract a lot more repeat business.

We stayed in 'Jay' which was an ample sized twin bedroom. The beds were fairly comfortable and it had a large bathroom/dressing room area off the main sleeping area. The shower looked pretty old and had rust/mould in the grouting and around the shower controls. It would benefit from being replaced and re-grouted to freshen it up. The bathroom was carpeted and again would be better to have tiles or laminate put down.

A couple of minor points but we had a couple of complimentary toiletries in the bathroom, body wash & body lotion but no shampoo. We also had some biscuits with the tea & coffee facilities but both packets were opened and some biscuits had been removed. It is this attention to detail which I feel could be easily improved on.

The service was also a little lacking. The manager made no attempt to converse with our party at any point of our stay (we eat in the restaurant during our stay too), even to say hello apart from initially checking us in. Restaurant service was slow and we had to approach the serving staff to place our orders, get extra drinks and even request the bill. When we checked out we were not asked about our stay or even wished well for our onward travel.

These may seem minor points but make the difference between average accommodation and great accommodation and whether you recommend to friends and family.

For the price, £65 per room (midweek), its pretty good value but a few tweaks here and there could make The Golden Pheasant a little gem in the Cotswolds.

Room Tip: Jay is a good sized twin at the rear of the property overlooking a little courtyard

We spent an enjoyable weekend here during June, as we booked rather late we were in one of the smaller rooms off the courtyard behind. The room was quite comfortable and adequate for a couple of nights. The staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. We ate in one evening and again the food was very good. Parking was difficult in the tiny courtyard but there is plenty of free parking in streets behind the hotel. Burford is a good centre from which to explore this part of the Cotswolds.
