“Excellent Christmas works dinner!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

Having eaten at the Bull before with my partner, I organised our works Christmas meal at the Bull confident in the quality of the food and service. We were not disappointed! The service was impeccable and the food stunning! We also stayed over and found the rooms to be perfectly comfortable with a great breakfast the following morning. Would strongly recommend for any occasion!

We stayed one night in The Bull in Burford, Oxfordshire, England while on our way north to visit with dear friends. We had been in Burford about 20 years ago but could not remember which hotel we stayed in and which one we had dinner in. The proprietors told us that their kitchen was undergoing some work and only breakfast would be available. Our bedroom was quite spacious, and the shower and tub were fine, but the toilet lid was one that closed automatically and it drove us crazy because it kept trying to shut while we were using it! Sleeping was not too good because our room was on the main street and the traffic passing all night interrupted our sleep. However, the bed was most comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was huge and delicious. I would definitely return to the Bull but would ask for a room in the middle or back of the hotel.

Room Tip: Unless you sleep with earplugs, pick a room in the middle or the back of the hotel. The noise from t...

This is the first review I have ever written, but my Sunday lunch time meal was such as to justify writing one. We were a group of eight who frequently meet at different venues on Sundays for lunch. The menu choice was so great that I should have been suspicious early on. A tasteless amuse-bouche (tomatoes, a small piece of cheese, and cucumber) was served. Then a variety of starters which were passable. My sirloin main course, asked for as medium rare, was very undercooked. My pudding, a sort of chocolate brownie with sauce, was hard enough to necessitate the use of both spoon and fork to break into.
The above comments can only be in relation to my own experience. However the group consensus afterwards was in similar vein! In short poor food and wine, and grossly overpriced.

I stayed here for two nights for a college reunion. The room was charming, bathroom well appointed with plenty of thick towels, nice toiletries and a heated towel rail. A fully stocked tea tray with lots of posh biscuits and still and sparkling water. My two dinners were super - scallops so much so that I had them both nights. Their home-made ice cream is fantastic - the licorice one is out of this world. Our reunion lunch was exceptionally good value and everyone said how much they appreciated the quilaity of the food. Highly recommended. I hope to stay again and Burford is a beautiful place with lots to see.

We have known this Hotel for 50 yrs., with the present owners this past 3 years.First Class F & F with obvious pride in their standards. At present only c. 12 bedrooms, so there is still the intimacy you get from ` hands on ` proprietors. 4 A A star cooking , with most careful attention to both quality and presentation

We visited in October for a 4 night stay. On arrival at the hotel there had been a mix up with the booking at first it seemed that the hotel hadn't our booking through expedia even though we had checked with both the hotel & expedia earlier. The matter was quickly resolved & we we're upgraded to the Market Room. Thanks to staff for sorting this out for us. The room was tasefully decorated & very spacious.

Unlike many reviewers we chose not to have evening meals at the Bull partly down to the lack of vegetarian choices for me & also the price of the vegetarian main course which I think was around £14. Instead we chose to eat at various pubs in Burford which were all very good. Breakfast at the Bull was good, highlights we're freshly squeezed orange juice & the porridge.
Burford is a really good base to explore the Cotswolds & Oxford.
