We have just come back from a lovely stay at the Angel. Room was fab. Clean and tidy, and above all really cosy. The log fire in the bar was great! It was freezing outside.. Breakfast was LUSH. Nothing bad to say about the place and would return for another stay. Oh and i saw my first wild OWL. Yes sad i know but made my day. (oh owl wasnt in the inn may i add. that would be strange)

We stayed here when we went to a wedding. The room was pretty and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty. Service was good and return times flexible in the evening. The location is great, just off the High Street. Burford is a beautiful town, well worth a visit.

Went ot Burford on Sunday 2/12/12 and was dreading having to squeeze into a crowded pub on the touristy main drag. Found this lovely little pub on a circuitous walk from the free riverside car park. Shown straight to a table - the place soon filled up but without any feeling of being jostled. Enjoyed the Hook Norton beer. Small menu but lovely fresh food - we had the duck and the roast beef. A feeling that although there seems to be some tasteful refurb work done, the pub will not have changed much for centuries, in a good way. We'll definitely come back here.

Stayed 2 nights whilst visiting our daughter at RAF Brize Norton.
On arrival we received a very warm welcome from Terence who also assisted with our luggage to the room, this was very much appreciated after a very long and tiring journey.
The room was quite spacious and detailed for any traveller requirement, yes it was a bit tired, but clean and comfortable which is the main priority.
I have to say that for a 16th century building where I'm sure actions for modernisation and improvement are strictly limited I thought the amenities were very good.
Breakfast was excellent with a varied choice of cereals, juice, tea, coffee, toast and a hearty Full English nicely cooked and well presented.

Being accommodation providers ourselves we can appreciate the effort the owners had put in to providing a perfectly acceptable service and at a very competitive price, we will definitely return and also recommend to others.

(Don't be put off by social noise from the bar or dining areas in the evening, we never heard a thing after 11.00pm, but after all, it is an Inn)

We recently stayed at The Angel, having an evening meal and breakfast the next day. The meal was lovely and there is a nice friendly feel to the place. Good beer and wines too. Our room however did leave a bit to be desired. It's surprising just how noisy it can be and you could clearly hear the taped music and practically everything that is being said from those in the bar below. It's okay if you don't want to turn in too early but noisy if you do. The room was definitely a bit "tired" and the shower was pretty feeble. There was also quite a bit of mildew around the windows - probably not ventilated properly. On the whole we enjoyed our stay but if you're looking for top notch rooms, you'll probably be a bit disappointed.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Terence and myself took over The Angel in December of last year, and have since put in place an extensive refurbishment program. This started with the kitchen and strong investment in there in a bid to provide the highest of food standards necessary to bring The Angel to where we want it to be.
I can indeed confirm that the rooms are part of this ongoing investment - including the plumbing! There is work commencing at the moment, to bring us up in line with 'top city hotels' in terms of bathrooms, although I do still think for an old Cotswold building you can't complain too much! We have already refurbished our residents lounge which is a wonderful cosy place to be, invested in new linen and towels, as well as doing work on the garden and the restaurant - so you can see our commitment! The rooms already have excellent furniture and beds and tons of character. The Angel is a 15th century building - with all the little charms and quirks concerned with that - a reason that people come to the Cotswolds, and we want to continue to represent that.

We hope to see you again in the New Year, once the refurb is completed!

We stayed with our family (son & wife and daughter & fiance) Friday and Saturday night recently to celebrate my 60th birthday and had a great week-end.
The hosts, Terence and Gemma, are very pleasant and make you feel really welcome. The Inn is delightful - just what you would expect of a rustic Cotswold building. Rooms are lovely and the whole building has a really cosy feel.
Breakfast was lovely, plenty of toast, coffee and tea - also choice of cereals and full English breakfast or eggs cooked any way you choose. Scrambled egg was delicious. Evening meal was also extremely good.
As it was my birthday on the Saturday the family took some balloons and banners and the staff kindly put them up in the dining room for when we returned from a walk and I was given a complimentary glass of bubbly!
Burford itself has some lovely shops and pretty countryside walks. Terence helped my son out with directions for a walk we were going on as he has good local knowledge.
Would definitely recommend!
