“Customer service makes up for the noise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2014

We had booked this break as a last minute escape from the floods and it proved to be not quite as relaxing as we had hoped. Our ground floor room suffered badly from noise - situated along the main corridor and underneath the creakiest, noisiest floorboards, we've ever experienced. Having said this, after a second night of suffering in silence, we asked to be moved and were by the duty manager with a huge apology and without any fuss. We know it's an old building which is part of its charm but this was pretty bad. There was clearly a professional handover between shifts as not only did we have our newspaper delivered to the new room but the waiting staff at breakfast knew we had moved.
Service was fantastic with impressive attention to detail and the food was excellent. Would visit again but would be careful on room choice.

Thank you for your review and I am very pleased that the positives of your stay outweighed the negative. As explained at the time, we do not usually have issues with excessive noise from neighbouring guests but I am pleased that my apology and remedy was accepted. I hope you will visit us again soon and we will make sure that we find a room similar to the one you were moved into as an assurance of no noisy repeat! Again, thank you.

Located just off the main high street, there is no car park but you can park on the road or in the sister hotels. Cosy bar and lounges with log fires. Good wine list and wide selection of spirits.
The restaurant was not as described cold, but warm from a log burner.
The food is good but portions are small, however we had a set menu and were given complimentary homemade bread, amuse bouche and sorbet before desert.
Stayed for two nights in a nice quiet room at the back of the hotel.
The beamed room was warm and nicely furnished with two tub chairs and an extra stool. Good lighting with bedside lamps and ceiling spot lights.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean, shower and pedestal traditional hand basin. Plenty of room for putting cosmetics etc. it would be nice to have a bath.
Complimentary water, homemade flapjacks and lots of speciality teas and coffees. Lots of glossy country magazines to browse through.
Complimentary bathrobes and an Iron and board and a fan also provided.
Nice place just to relax.

Room Tip: Just check if the bathroom has a bath if that's what you like.

Just had a wonderful weekend at The Lamb Inn, Burford. A beautiful room, luxurious toiletries, wonderful warm friendly staff. Felt very at home and relaxed. The sitting areas are lovely to sit warming by the log fires and have a latte, a contemplate or even a game, which can be supplied if asked for. I cannot fault it, and cannot wait to go back again.

We have stayed here several times, usually on a 3-night stay. If you like comfort, log fires in Winter, lovely rooms, good food, pretty gardens in summer-time, you should be very happy here. It is dog friendly and although the bedrooms which accommodate dogs are not the best ones, they are still charming. The formal dining room can be a little cold in Winter, so take a wrap. The two lounges have fires, sink-into armchairs, tables which you can eat at if you choose (then your dog can be with you) and there is also a bar where you can also eat from the bar menu. The staff are efficient and friendly. The ambiance is of an olde-worlde country inn and Burford itself is a charming little town. There are plenty of walks in the vicinity and, of course, the whole of the rest of the Cotswolds to go at. It's a wonderful mixture of comfort and class.

Room Tip: Each room is different. Perhaps you should ask the receptionist for what you want when booking?

We stayed for 3 nights at The Lamb Inn. This was our second visit, the first being 2 years ago. The room was sumptuous, the food was gorgeous, the service was exceptional, the atmosphere was like an oasis of serene comfort........an antidote to the pressures of modern life. Put simply, this place is without doubt my favourite location for a luxury break. Go there and see for yourselves. I am confident that you will be utterly pampered.

Room Tip: For ultra luxury, try ALLIUM. True decadence is watching the six nations from the comfort of a deep...

The Lamb Inn is the fourth establishment we have stayed in belonging to Cotswold Inns and Hotels, and once again we were not disappointed - the high standards we have found in all the other establishments were more than met. The staff were all absolutely charming, right from the minute we walked through the door, and the welcoming lounge and bar with numerous log fires was perfect for a horrible rainy day! Our room (Malt) was beautiful and warm with a huge half-tester bed, creaky floors and lovely antique furniture. (Great flapjack too!). On the first night we ate in the bar and the food was delicious and the second night we ate in the restaurant, where the food was amazing! Breakfast was also excellent - freshly squeezed fruit juices, good selection of cereals and fruit etc, plus a great selection of hot options and everything was freshly cooked and of excellent quality. We really felt at home and would have loved to have stayed longer!! The service was second to none and all the staff were so friendly and chatty. There is only one thing which we were a bit disappointed in and that was the bathroom - it definitely felt as if it is time for a bit shower/bath upgrading. But that said we had a wonderful two nights and it is our aim to stay in all the hotels in the group!

Room Tip: Didn't see any of the other rooms but would definitely recommend Malt. Even though it looks out...

I have been coming to the Lamb for my birthday for about 35 years, It is such a wonderful, atmospheric hotel and I love the way it has been gently modernised without losing any character.
The Slovak and Hungarian staff are an absolute delight. I cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough. And Burford itself is such a pleasure to walk around.

Room Tip: We went for the Allium this time. Well worth the extra.

Cotswold Inns and Hotels have owned the Lamb for a few months short of a decade. There is a genuine love for the property which has seen the hotel maintained with respect and gently nurtured with subtle improvements. I am delighted to read of your appreciation of this over the years. Many thanks and I look forward to seeing you again.
