My hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights10&11th July to go to a wedding. It is a lovely oldy worldy hotel, very clean and comfortable. We had an evening meal and breakfasts which were tasty. We loved our room (3) it was cool but cosy with a tv, tea and coffee making facilities. Loved the atmosphere. We would love to return. It left us having really enjoyed our 2 day stay

Stayed for one night in August in room 18. Lovely large room, facing out onto the road - a little noisy when opening the window but when closed you could not hear a thing.

The room was lovely and comfortable - tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, ironing board etc and extra pillows.

We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and it was lovely would recommend to anyone staying in the hotel. The breakfast on Sunday was brilliant and lovely cooked buffet breakfast with high quality ingredients, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries and more - definitely a high light for me.

The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for you.

We will definitely return when we next visit the area.

An excellent hotel experience. The friendly staff that went out of their way in many ways to make our 25th anniversary special. The food, the bar, and the beer selection are second to none. The rooms may be a little small by American standards, but are wholly adequate. The rooms were clean and tidy. The large car park is right across the street from a Catholic church, and a short walk to the main street of Burford. A very short walk to a large, beautiful town park. Good location right upon the roundabout. A short drive to the surrounding towns, including Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon. The genuine friendliness of the staff was unparalleled in my experience. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer than two nights. If we ever are able to visit the UK again, we will certainly be back.

Stayed here for just one night - the good points of this hotel is that it has a large car park and the breakfast has a great choice of hot and cold food. However our room must have been above the restaurant which was noisy at night (it was a Saturday night to be fair) and also another issue which is probably the nature of the building was the creaky floorboards - you could hear people moving about upstairs and out in the hallways - not great for a lie in, or if those in the surrounding rooms get up in the night. The room was also slightly on the small side - the double bed I don't think was a full sized double - probably in order to fit it in to the limited space. The towels were also poor - they were stacked in a pile and in the morning the one I grabbed after my shower was rather threadbare and close to having holes in around the edges - I would not expect this to be offered to guests and saw it as more suitable for pets! After reading the glowing reviews I was perhaps hoping for more for the price which wasn't all that cheap.

I stayed at the Cotswold Gatehouse to attend a Regt reunion at Brize Norton and can recommend it 100% Andrew the owner couldn't do more. Andrew arranged my taxi there and back and even managed to recharge my IPhone after left my charger at home. A family run business with real customer service. Great staff, great sevice, great accommodation.

My 2nd visit to the fabulous Cotswolds and was not disappointed with our choice of accommodation. Everywhere where we wanted to go in easy travelling distance by car. Our cousin was at Oxford (he showed us where the last witch was burnt and where Bob Hawke drank the yard glass to get into The Guinness Record Book),Bleinhem Castle nearby, Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, Stratford-Upon-Avon,the fabulous town of Bath and our other favourite place Chipping Campden. We were not sure what to do one day and the fabulous owners recommended Warwick Castle. What a great highlight of our holidays!

Room Tip: I had a room facing the roundabout and I am a very light sleeper having had 3 children but had no pr...

Chose this hotel for a night away. We have driven through Burford before but not stayed.

Burford .. nice place to wander ..some great local pubs .. sat on hight street and watched comings and goings... Lots of nice restaurants and pubs with food. We went to Spice Lounge for indian food ..excellent and the waiter recommended a fantastic dish that wasn't on the menu!

So the Gateway Hotel .. clean.. good room. We chose this hotel has has lots of parking which is challenge at some other places. Great breakfast with really good quality ingredients.
Service was great throughout. On checkout the man recommended an amazing organic farm shop to visit.

The room was at the front of the hotel so was noisy .. but had double glazing so quiet when shut but it was too hot to not open windows. So didn't have great night's sleep .. but that is not the hotel's fault!

Recommend this place!

Room Tip: Maybe ask for room at rear of hotel to be quieter
