We have been staying here on & off for 20 years.

It's always perfect, brilliant food & hospitality...

Rooms are a little small but with so much to do we weren't in there a lot!

We arranged a late check out at the last minute & it wasn't a problem, the manager came to find me to let me know it Was ok & THERE WAS NO CHARGE.

WE HAVE NEVER HAD A LATE CHECK OUT CHARGE - EVER!

Nice menu with some good variations. Lovely food, nicely done, accompanied by a good selection of vegetables. We ate in the bar which was great, with lots of traditional features. Just on the outskirts of Burford, in fabulous surroundings.

We only stayed at the Gateway for 1 night but cannot recommend it highly enough. We were in town for a wedding in nearby Bibury and were needing to get ready and leave by 1pm. Despite the check in time of 3pm, the staff were more than happy to accommodate an early check in and our room was ready for 11.30am.

The room was spotless, bright and airy, the bed was really comfortable and we couldn't have asked for much more. It also had a nice tea making corner which was screwed to the wall in the corner and not taking up counter space as you find in a lot of hotels. Lovely biscuits too! Hotel has free WiFi too.Location wise it was so easy to find, just off the A40 with plenty of free parking the village is extremely picturesque.

The stand-out for our stay was most definitely the service. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we felt extremely welcome. As non pork eaters i had also requested an alternative for breakfast and this was happily provided. The beef sausages and turkey rashers completed an excellent full English which helped soothe the post wedding hangover. Although we only used the bar for cash-back, it was well stocked with a number of draft beers and ales.

Great stay, thank you to everyone!

Our family has thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. this hotel is situated in a picturesque village. It provided a clean and freshly refurbished room within a historic building and included an OUTSTANDING restaurant. The husband and wife owners ensured our stay was everything we were expecting and all the staff were very friendly. We highly recommended this hotel as great value to explore the Cotswolds.

We stayed here 28/06/2013.

Very impressed with how tidy and clean the bar and reception areas were. The staff are extremely welcoming.

We had a Four Poster room which was superb. Room 14 2nd floor. The bed is massive and really comfy. Plenty of storage options for clothes and belongings. 2 side tables, chest of draws and a large wardrobe.

Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces.

We had a meal on the evening which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Bacon and Cheese burger is spot on. Some might say the prices are on the high side. I don't think so. The food is top quality and very filling.

The WIFI is the fastest I have used in any hotel I have stayed in before.

The breakfast is awesome. Buffet style with the usual cereals, fruit and Full English choices. Could do with the choice of Black Pudding though. Otherwise, it was superb.

If we take another trip to the Cotswolds we will be certainly stopping here again. It's a great hotel. Thanks for a great stay.

Neil and Sam

Room Tip: Room 14 (Four Poster Room) is a good size and there is no traffic noise.

We stayed at this lovely, family-run hotel last night for a family get-together. From arrival to departure Andy, Julia and their staff bent over backwards to make us all (14 of us!) very welcome and comfortable. (Even the lovely big pots of tea/coffee come with a plate of biscuits!)
The room was very clean and comfortable and had everything you need.
Last night's meal was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
We really could not fault our all too brief stay (and some of my family can be very fussy), but rest assured - we'll be back! In fact, we're already planning another reunion there next year!

Room Tip: We stayed in the annexe. The room was not huge, but plenty big enough. Traffic noise was not a probl...

Wanted to stay in Burford as we had previously visited several times when we stayed in the Cotswolds. We decided to stay here for a few days as there were good reviews and looked from the outside a typical Cotswolds hotel, however our room which was in the annex and overlooked the car park was dark and disappointing. The bedroom was quite small but clean the mattress was very soft for our liking but that's a personal choice. There was a lot of limescale on the kettle on the hospitality tray which was very off putting. The bathroom was adequate the shower very easy to operate but a power shower would be better. The food was good and the staff pleasant if we stayed here again it would have to be in the hotel.

Room Tip: Our room in the annex we could hear noise from the bar patio area.
