“Great Value”

Our family has thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. this hotel is situated in a picturesque village. It provided a clean and freshly refurbished room within a historic building and included an OUTSTANDING restaurant. The husband and wife owners ensured our stay was everything we were expecting and all the staff were very friendly. We highly recommended this hotel as great value to explore the Cotswolds.

We stayed here 28/06/2013.

Very impressed with how tidy and clean the bar and reception areas were. The staff are extremely welcoming.

We had a Four Poster room which was superb. Room 14 2nd floor. The bed is massive and really comfy. Plenty of storage options for clothes and belongings. 2 side tables, chest of draws and a large wardrobe.

Parking is free and there are plenty of spaces.

We had a meal on the evening which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Bacon and Cheese burger is spot on. Some might say the prices are on the high side. I don't think so. The food is top quality and very filling.

The WIFI is the fastest I have used in any hotel I have stayed in before.

The breakfast is awesome. Buffet style with the usual cereals, fruit and Full English choices. Could do with the choice of Black Pudding though. Otherwise, it was superb.

If we take another trip to the Cotswolds we will be certainly stopping here again. It's a great hotel. Thanks for a great stay.

Neil and Sam

Room Tip: Room 14 (Four Poster Room) is a good size and there is no traffic noise.

We stayed at this lovely, family-run hotel last night for a family get-together. From arrival to departure Andy, Julia and their staff bent over backwards to make us all (14 of us!) very welcome and comfortable. (Even the lovely big pots of tea/coffee come with a plate of biscuits!)
The room was very clean and comfortable and had everything you need.
Last night's meal was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
We really could not fault our all too brief stay (and some of my family can be very fussy), but rest assured - we'll be back! In fact, we're already planning another reunion there next year!

Room Tip: We stayed in the annexe. The room was not huge, but plenty big enough. Traffic noise was not a probl...

Wanted to stay in Burford as we had previously visited several times when we stayed in the Cotswolds. We decided to stay here for a few days as there were good reviews and looked from the outside a typical Cotswolds hotel, however our room which was in the annex and overlooked the car park was dark and disappointing. The bedroom was quite small but clean the mattress was very soft for our liking but that's a personal choice. There was a lot of limescale on the kettle on the hospitality tray which was very off putting. The bathroom was adequate the shower very easy to operate but a power shower would be better. The food was good and the staff pleasant if we stayed here again it would have to be in the hotel.

Room Tip: Our room in the annex we could hear noise from the bar patio area.

katherine t

we stayed two nights. The 2nd night was not pre booked and no rooms available.. How ever the Owner went the extra mile to find us a room the next day which was brilliant. All the staff were friendley, helpful and made our stay memorable. Food was first class too. Highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: be advised by the staff-they are very honest.

Stayed in the Annex in Room 23 for one night as part of a business trip to the local area. Was disappointed to be placed in the annex away from the main body of the hotel. The hotel looks fantastic as you may expect constructed as it is from the very appealing warm looking local stone. It is also an old building and is located at the top of the high street in the beautiful Cotswold village of Burford. The reception and bar area are very nicely decorated and maintain a very pleasant olde worlde style. The restaurant, where breakfast is served, is also very pleasant. The annex is approx 50 meters from the main building and looks much newer but is located right on the main road. My view was of a Little Chef. There is only secondary glazing on the window and there was some noise from the main road but it was not excessive and didn't really affect my nights sleep. The room was a twin with two quite small beds and, being a big guy, this was a bit of an issue but again did not unduly affect my nights sleep. The furnishings are nice without being exceptional and there was definitely a lack of a wow factor on entry. Everything you need is provided with nice quality toiletries and brew facilities. Breakfast was very good with plenty of healthy options such as fresh fruit cereals and yoghurt. As usual I plumped straight for the cooked breakfast and helped myself to black pudding, fried egg, bacon, sausage and baked beans. There was also fried bread, mushrooms and other egg dishes available. Everything is served buffet style except for tea, coffee and toast which is waitress served. All in all a very good breakfast with the coffee being particularly good. We paid a special business rate of £75 for single use of a twin room which is good value. The full price may be higher, I didn't check. If I was to visit the Burford area on my own, ie not on business, I would request a room in the main hotel as the annex was not that great and I have also stayed in much better, smaller establishments in the village. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is right at the top end of the high street and the walk up from the heart of the village, where all the bars and restaurants are located, is a killer. The village itself is beautiful located as it is in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex are only average, reports suggest that the main hotel is much better.

We're an elderly couple and came here with our 40-something daughter for a 5-day stay. It was really great. The hotel is comfortable and friendly and the staff outstanding. The food excellent and every trouble taken to make sure we were OK, even to suggesting we choose which table to book in the bar when friends joined us for lunch. Friends' dog also welcome. Good memories.
