My partner and I attended this venue last night on a Groupon offer.
We were welcomed by the lady on reception and directed to the bar/lounge area where the young male staff were smartly dressed and very welcoming. A nice selection of canapes were brought to our table and we were given Pimms & Lemonade as our welcoming drink.

When our meal was ready we were shown up to our table and our drinks were carried up on a tray by the young waiter.

The dining room is nicely decorated and our table was laid with high quality tableware and cutlery.

The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. All the staff were polite, friendly and attentive and clearly well trained to a high standard in waiting skills. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Arrived at Woodborough Hall and ushered to a cosy seat near an open fire where we were given a glass of sparkling wine and canapés. We were handed a menu with a good choice from which we chose our meal which was served in a small dining room. The food was lovely and beautifully presented. The service first rate. However, the rooms were drab and in need of updating. This is such a shame as the building itself is set in beautiful grounds and would make a wonderful setting for a summer wedding. I have rated this as 4 star purely based on the food and service, not the place which I would rate much lower. Sorry.

We recently visited mid-week with friends for lunch. This place has certainly gone downhill. A few years ago it offerred well cooked and well presented food in attractive surroundings with attentive staff. What a difference. On the face of it the lunch menu offerred very good value for money with generous portions but there certainly wasn't the same attention to food preparation and presentation. The food tended to be overcooked and not particularly flavoursome. The service was distinctly ordinary. Perhaps the most disappointing was that the building is really going to seed. The once attractive decor and furnishings are now drab, dingy and quite frankly worn out, particularly the threadbare carpet on the stairs which was positively dangerous.

If it wasn't for its wedding trade, which I beleieve remains bouyant, I would fear for its long term survival.

We visited Woodborough Hall for a meal to celebrate a birthday. The welcome was lovely and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. The food was beautifully cooked and presented without any endless delays between courses. The log fire was particularly welcoming on a chilly night. The lovely old building has a touch of faded grandeur but it all adds to the overall ambience.
A very pleasant evening.
