“Great food”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

For a Sunday evening there were plenty of people in the restaurant to make a nice atmosphere. The choice of food was excellent. I went for the duck with vegetables, really nice and tasty, more than sufficient and not just vegetables. I had coconut crepe with ice cream which was lovely with the ice cream, although at first seeing a green crepe was strange!!

“Peace , comfort, pleasure.”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

I needed a venue to have a relaxing lunch with 3 friends, ranging in age from 60+ to 3 months old!! I could not have chosen better. The menu is extensive and could suit us all...( and the baby could be breastfed in peace and comfort!) The cost of our excellent lunch was very reasonable indeed.Tarn Thai is beautifully decorated without being naff, the ambience was soothingly calm and the service unobtrusive. We did not mind at all that there was quite a long gap between courses. I would happily recommend this restaurant.

“Super value lunches”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Tarn Thai is a great Thai restaurant in Nottingham's Hockley area of the city. The decor is beautiful with arm chair style seating and proper water features. The staff are attentive but not annoying! They do a superb lunch deal at £8.50 for an appetiser and main with rice and tea or coffee - portions are not big but ideal for lunch. It's much more expensive in the evening.

“Good Thai food in Nottingham for a pretty penny”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

Ambiance: Very lovely setting and decorations inside the restaurant which give a wonderful feel on entrance. The flowing water and slight fragrance of rose really added character to the setting, and gave positive first impressions.

Service: It was good, even for quite a large group of us. Although it did take quite a long while for the drinks to arrive.

Food: Was good and authentic food for the main courses. I had the sticky rice and Thai Red curry with pork and sticky rice, which was very nice. The portions were not big enough though.
The starters were a disappointment. We went for the mixed starters, which looked amazing in the style they were served. However, they did not live up to the taste. Pork and beef satays were tougher than expected (7/10), the chicken wrap was ok (6.5/10), prawns were the best (8/10) and I didn't try the fishcake. However, it cost £17!! That is ridiculous for this dish!

With drinks, you are easily pushing £40 per person at Tarn Thai, and unfortunately, across the country, you can get much better Thai meals for that price. However, in Nottingham, it is one of the better ones, but not the best by a long way.
