Description: Le Mistral sits in a quiet courtyard just a few steps from Market Square, away from the rush and noise of the busy streets of the city. The 70 capacity restaurant exists within a converted warehouse, absolutely packed with character and charm. We serve up great quality, freshly prepared food alongside an extensive wine list, full of little gems you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Book now, whatever the occasion and we’ll make it special.

We went here a couple of nights after Valentines and were pleasantly surprised!
I had the mussels to start with, which were to die for, and my boyfriend has the calamari. He was somewhat disappointed in the portion size but the main course made up for this.
The food was very rich but very delicious! There was an offer on for a free bottle of wine with 2 main courses but we didn't go for this (not sure why now!) but a group of girls close by went with the deal and sounded very happy indeed!
The menu didn't have very many vegetarian options and the dishes that were vegetarian didn't seem as appetising as they potentially could have been!
Desserts were absolutely DIVINE though! I had the tart au citron and my boyfriend had the creme brûlée. The sound of him cracking the top with his dessert spoon reminded us both of Amélie, and the fact that most of the soundtrack from the film was playing in the restaurant only helped this! It completely set the scene in this beautiful little French find! It's quite hidden though and we were the only people there for some time, which was a surprise! The waitress kept out of our way keeping our date private so that was very considerate of her, great service!
Definitely underrated and would definitely recommend!

We were attracted to this restaurant, on our first visit to Nottingham, by the offer of two main courses and a bottle of wine for £26.00. And we liked the look of the French style atmosphere.

Oh dear! The two waiters just could not be bothered - the top one just spent the whole time we were there looking at his computer screen and only came to us when I called him. The other one looked totally bored.

My wife had the Moules marinier which was big but tasteless - she doubted there was any white wine or garlic in the sauce. Although we were there only a week ago, I just cannot remember what I had! It certainly was not memorable.

This place has such a nice French atmosphere, it is such a shame the food and staff do not have the same enthusiasm.

popped in for a quick lunch. Very slow to be seated. Chap had to wipe down a table for us, even though most were empty. Couldnt that have been done before we arrived.

waited an age for our order to be taken. Mushrooms with parmesan, fine. Hummus and olives ok too for started.

Had to send back a burnt crepe for main. Very burnt. Would expect the kitchen to notice that. Bouillabaisse very meagre. Three mussels two small pieces of fish.

Service very slow. Had to go and fetch the bill myself. Unsurprisingly didn't leave a tip.

not good enough. Won't be back

We love the atmosphere of this city centre restaurant, it feels like stepping off the streets of Nottingham and into a Parisian bistro. The menu is great, with lots of daily specials available also. The service on this trip was very poor on this visit however, there were two waitresses working and at no point did they realise we needed any service and on each occasion we needed to get a menu, order a drink, order the meal, get the bill and pay the bill we had to get up and distract them from Facebook before we got any attention. A real disappointment since the service here has in the past been top notch. We will go again but if the service level was ever this bad again it'd be off the list.
