Owner description: Wollaton Hall is one of the country's finest Grade One listed Elizabethan mansions, set within 500 acres of beautiful parkland. Experience stunning architecture, exhibitions, a packed events program and an array of wildlife. Go behind the scenes on a variety of guided tours available throughout the year and on demand for groups. Other special events include costumed tours, puppet shows, craft fairs, Segway tours and our popular spooky Ghost Nights (not for the faint hearted!). Visit the Cafe in the Courtyard for light refreshments including freshly ground coffee, specialty teas and home made cakes.

Visited with my grandchildren and although weather not great we had a fabulous time looking around the magnificent hall, (Wayne Manor in the recent "Batman, Dark Knight Rises" movie.) The display rooms throughout the building give a detailed insight of the Halls past and include a natural history walk through, which is on par with any of the great museums of similar themes I have ever visited. There was also a food market on the day which had lots of choice local foods as well as from around the world. All this was free of any charges other than a £4 all day parking charge! Best value for money a family day out could wish for. Well done Wollaton Hall and Park. Brilliant.

i visited the Hall due to its use as Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight Rises and wasn't disappointed. It is an architectural marvel and the site of it on the hill as you approach through the deer park is breathtaking. The hall is set in grounds with free running deer, all very nice and not something you would expect just a shot distance from Nottingham city centre. The Elizabethan house is a wonderful and atmospheric sight. The interior is equally impressive and contains a small natural history museum. Due to time constraints I did not go on the guided tour which shows visitors more rooms in the house that are not open to non paying visitors, however just seeing the house was enough. Stunning.

Wollaton Hall is an ideal family day out. It is close to the centre of Nottingham yet has large grounds for children to explore. They can see the red dear that roam through the fenced off part of the grounds. The grounds also have a lake and an adventure playground. There is both a museum and activity area for children inside the hall itself. This is ideal should it start to rain during the day. I have taken my grandchildren to Wollaton on many occasions and will continue to do so.

We went on a behind the scenes tour on saturday afternoon for a £5 fee and it was excellent. Don't get the wrong idea it was all about the house not the Batman film ! You are taken up to the top of the house into a room I didn't realise was there, out onto a lower roof section for more great views, down through the house into the kitchens and wine cellars and finally into tunnels. A great tour for a minimal price (entry into the house and gardens is free apart from a car park charge).
