I've walked straight past this place for years. Recently, a friend suggested we pop in there.
I've been back 3 times since then. It's a very nice pub. They seem to have a couple of new guest beers every time I visit, decent English ales. Not too adventurous on the craft beer front but very drinkable.
Between the three of us we shared a platter of 5 different starters/snacks. For only £9. What a bargain.
The battered prawns were very light and came with a nice tangy dip.
I got the hot chicken wings which blew the top of my head off. I had to neck nearly a pint of beer to put that fire out.
I'm really getting to like this place. The staff are very nice. The girl who served us was really pleasant and had some awesome tats. It fits in just right with the rock/goth image.
The music is well chosen. No chart or karaoke type nonsense, just top quality rock. It's kept low enough so you can hold a conversation but you can still enjoy the music. Altogether a great atmosphere. It's now going to be a regular stop off point on our trips out to Nottingham.
What would make this pub even better would be a couple of decent IPAs, even cans would do. Even without this I'll still enjoy going back.
